It's funny how England get praise for over achieving and reaching the semi-finals.

But Liverpool get laughed at for over achieving and reaching the European Cup final.

honestly, I thought Sterling should'nt have started. Its been 3 years since he's scored - what does it take to get him dropped? He doesnt pass unless his back is to goal and wastes so many chances.

The alternative is Rashford I guess who has looked rubbish.

Croatia were far better. England were lucky it even got to extra time. Southgate stuck with the XI that got him there instead of being brave and making the necessary changes in order to stand a better chance.

I never understood the Southgate love in.
Completely fucked this game with midfield selection and never changed it when he needed to.
Got a nice run playing poor opposition.
Too many overrated players like Sterling, Lingard, Rashford and our own two in Kane and Ali were extremely poor.
Henderson can't pass

Pluses for me was Tripper who has been outstanding and Maguire has been a big surprise.

This team is nowhere near as good as the 90 semi losing team + Sir Bobby

Too reliant on long ball to Sterling and dribbling from him and Lingard. And those two guilty of being greedy over and over again.

We played very little football and the role that Harry was given was bizarre, your top striker rarely getting a touch near the final third (let alone the box)

Shame for Trip as he has been our man of the tournament, Rose did well coming on too, pity for him he couldn't get fitter a few weeks earlier as he would've been a certain starter.

unlucky. Croatia have so many technical players in the middle of the park. very hard to win at this level without winning the midfield battle

No disgrace going out tonight. They gave it their all.

Such a good base to build on for the future.

We've got so many good young players coming through the system playing with the same style. Players like Welbeck will be replaced with Sancho who could be incredible in 4 years.

Also EURO 2020 Semis and Final are at Wembley so a big opportunity.

Thought Southgate made the right subs just half hour too late but in the end experience won out over youth.
Of course it didn't help that we finished the game with only ten men.

The England U-17s and U-19s are world champions and this young senior team made it to a WC semi-final. The future could be very bright for us.

Only consolation is that a defeat on pens would've felt so much worse.

In the end, we can legitimately complain about more than a few refereeing decisions re: balls out of play, corners not given, but we were just found lacking in open play and very rarely looked like scoring from anything other than a set piece. That is Southgate's 2020 mission: Make us dangerous in open play.

They did us proud, nonetheless.
