What is the point of var if the referee can't fucking read it right anyway he played the ball, unbefuckinglievable.

He didn't "play the ball", he barely grazed it, so much so that multiple camera angles and slow motion still didn't show it clearly.

Then the follow through caught the player and stopped him shooting.

I feel that the onus should be on the defender to make a clear and decisive challenge and if they dont then the penalty is the right decision.

I don't get why the ref has to run off and check the screen personally. Why can't someone just tell him in his ear whether he's made a mistake or not?

I prefer the ref has to look at it rather than some faceless idiots in a studio somewhere. But yeah it definitely kills the rhythm of the game and with penalties it just heaps more pressure on the penalty taker because he has to wait longer than normal.

I know what you are saying but he didn't bring the player down, he played the ball and was then dead, not moving, as Greizman brought his foot up he kicked the Aussie boot and that is not a fucking penalty.

If it was crystal clear we wouldn’t need VAR. And just because it isn’t easy to see, doesn’t mean it isn’t a foul and shouldn’t be given.

Griezmann was through on goal, he was fouled, intentionally or not (which is irrelevant), it should be a pen and wouldn’t have been without VAR.

This a million times. It looked like there were 5 jobsworths sitting in that control room. They should make the decision and radio down. Not have the ref kill the game and trundle over to the sideline for a gander.
