In slow mo things always look worse than they are. Full speed, he had a split second to react. It was never a pen.

That’s one of my problems with VAR. it doesn’t take into consideration accidents as far as I’ve seen.

Anyway fuck lovren.

About a foot from the man that flicks it on.

And that's handball?

The rules have to change it's either deliberate or not handball fuck this unnatural position bullshit.

Either that or make it so If it hits the hand it's handball irrespective.

If the French player had made contact I’d agree but the ball missed him and was clear hand to ball.

Think it was the right call

I hate to say it, but I think it was. Looked like an instinctive movement toward the ball.
Instinctive because he changes position after the French player in front of him moves out of the way. I think most players would do the same thing. Unfortunate that the ball then slaps against his hand, clear as day.

The ref had to watch it a lot more times than most of the VAR decisions prior to this, so maybe he shouldn't have overturned his original decision. Or he became convinced. Either way, controversial.

I wonder if Griezmann is going to be slagged off for having a poor World Cup and next to no impact like Kane. 3 Pens and a shot that got dropped in the goal

Not sure about the pen, presumably given for smacking down the ball with his hand.

Subasic went ridiculously early for that pen.
