The rules say it has to be intentional.

Watch the next corner. You'll see at least two players do the same thing.

Key factors for me were:

• French player didn’t touch the ball so wasn’t ‘deflected’ onto him
• Arms were up as the ball aproached and he pulled them down making contact (if he’d kept his arms up he wouldn’t have made contact but moved his hands towards the ball)
• Gained an advantage by not allowing the ball to pass him
