Yes there is a bit of gung-ho to this team, I'm not sure how wise it is though ultimately.

We've created chances, very good ones, and it was a bright start, but I do not like this formation. It's going as expected for me. Most people will say 'wow this is good, look how positive we are being', but I think it's massively unbalanced and against any good team this set up would get ruined. With the ball we've got the three centre backs and Henderson picking it up, and everyone else has run off way upfield. Those back players look nervous anyway, if they get pressed they're shitting their pants, and we're lucky that the Tunisia seemingly cant defend basic long straight balls over the top. Then without the ball we're very open and don't have the most diligent of pressers nor shape.
Offensively, it's not too dissimilar to how Juventus played against us in the first half in the second leg, and I believe you thought they looked dangerous then, only England are doing it quicker. Italy were successful playing something very similar in the last Euros.

I don't think they'll play that way all the time. Delph or Dier will be thrown in against the bigger teams. If Delph or Dier were playing instead of Lingard then there'd be complaints that it's too defensive.

Let's face it, England should be three goals up.

I've read (but not seen it confirmed) that the light for a VAR review of the rugby tackle on Kane came on, and was waved off by the referee. If that's true it's not VAR per se, but rather that the ref can overrule a system that is designed to rectify clear and obvious errors, that is to blame.

I really think with the defence we have we need to play Dier in midfield. He gives us more cover than Henderson

And what's with our defence? If we tightened up at the back after the first few times we gave it away they wouldn't have even got in the final third.
This is the way the modern game is played.
Its mad.
Over 50% of goals come from the conceding team being in possesion of the ball in their own third and fkin about until they make a mistake.
I dont get it.
The coaches tell their players to push them in and shut them up so they make a mistake (because they wont clear the ball no matter how undr pressure they are) and we'll get a chance, but then when they defend they say try and play out from the back no matter what!
Daft.
Saw Ruud Gullit talking on motd about it ages ago, he was equally baffled.
Its a lot harder for the opposition to score, even if they win the ball, when its in their own half than it is if you give them the fkin thing 25yds from your goal.

Fyi Im pissed hence rant lol.

Lingard and Sterling may be good players for their clubs but as soon as they put on an England shirt they lose their their shit. It’s so weird

Multiple comments on reddit, presumably from the commentators of whatever TV broadcast they are watching. Again I've looked and not seen it confirmed anywhere, so it could very easily be a false report.

Kane and Sterling are the wrong way round. Kane should be the 10 and Sterling the 9. Sterling has had success this season by simply running fast at the goal while better players lay it on for him, he's not actually a creative outlet. Kane is an all round forward and can hold up, pass, create, knock on and of course score from anywhere.

Southgate misunderstanding his players strengths imo.
