At the end of this tournament I think England should release a DVD called "That first 20 minutes".

There’s no doubting that England still lack the quality of the likes of Germany, France, etc and Southgate can’t really do much about that, but at least this team tried to do more of the right things than previous incarnations.

I’m so sick of hearing English pundits say “they need to get the ball forward quicker” whenever a team is up against a well drilled bus park, and Tunisia were parked deeper and deeper as that game wore on.

First half Tunisia were awful, and a better quality team would have killed them.

Trippier, Henderson were the best performers over the 90. Alli was good for the first 30. LC decent little cameo and Rashford looked lively.

I’d have Rose in for Young and Loftus-Cheek for Linguard next game. I generally like Sterling, but he wasn’t great tonight and Rashford could start next one and see how he does.

@Hazelton please enlightening how the above isn't true, he has only scored one and that was massively deflected. What makes him a good free kick taker? Please divulge.
I just think not scoring freekicks and being "shit" at freekicks aren't the same thing. He doesn't take many and when he does he tends to at least test the keeper, which is more than can be said for Young. I'm not saying he should take them ahead of Eriksen at Spurs, but in this England team he has the best chance of scoring IMO.

It was a free shot at goal from just outside the box and I'd rather see our best striker of the ball take it. Before Ronaldo's goal against Spain, he hadn't scored a freekick in his previous 46 attempts - I doubt Harry has even taken half that many for us. Big players step up on the biggest stage and Harry is England's big player at the moment.

Each to their own though, thankfully it doesn't matter now that we've won.

Keown was terrible wasn’t he. Moaning about Dele all second half yet lingard got off Scot free. Rashford and Sterling running down blind alleys and making the wrong decision time and again didn’t help.

Both of Kane's goals really showed his great movement in the box - he really is very clever is peeling away from the defenders and finding space in a crowded box.

I love that man.

Rose definitely needs to start ahead of young. He offers nothing outside on the left as he always has to cut back. Contrast that with Tripps in the right. Tripps was man of the match.
Rose need to start next game against Panama. Young is decent, but he's a right footed player and stops a lot to turn over to his right foot when we could be having a left footed player who crosses the ball

There's still concerns over whether Rose is fully fit. I can understand not risking him in the opening game.

So what do we take out of that then? Good/average performance, more questions then answers?
