Schone is a friggin non-entity for the Danes, neither shielding nor providing anything the other way. I am not sure I have seen him make a tackle all game. Kvist is missed for them.

If a handball is not intentional then it's not a handball regardless of whether it's taken an advantage away from anyone. An unintentional handball means it might as well as hit you on the head as far as the rule is concerned.

0:21 secs, not intentional but the defender hand balled it, result penalty.

As I said it's a massive grey area which comes down to comes down to interpretation.

Why does ITV take so friggin long to show a replay?

And why a booking for that?

The main part of the question was answered but having a chat earlier we were wondering if replays that have gone to VAR have been delayed, maybe due to fears about off site people communicating with the benches etc.

Dear, oh dear. I have a mate (Jens - used to be on SC) who I thought was being pessimistic when he said he wasn't sure Denmark would qualify. His words are being borne out here.

Disappointed in Denmark, Eriksen didn't impose himself on the game enough. Australia should have nicked that tbh.

If Australia knew how to score in open play then they would have done. Their last five goals in competitive football have been 4 Mile Jedinak penalties and a Mile Jedinak free-kick.

I don't think there are enough good Aussie forwards. The top strikers in the domestic league are from overseas. If you look at their squad, the international goal tallies are really, really low. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_national_soccer_team#Current_squad

I like Jamie Maclaren but the coaches never pick him. He scored loads for Brisbane then went to Germany and on loan to Hibernian, scored a hat trick near the end of the season.

I really want a Peru win now.

(Not sure I can stomach another 2 hours of ITV's coverage, though...)

I don't see how that should've been a penalty at all. The whole point of the handball rule was to stop people picking up the ball and running off with it (I'm exaggerating here of course). If a handball is not deliberate it shouldn't be a handball by the letter of the law. The only grey area I think there is is when a player has his hands in an unnatural position and the ball hits them - were his hands there for him to move freely, or were they there to make it harder for the attacker to pass the ball around him. If the latter, then it can be considered deliberate and it's a pen. That's open to judgement though.
