I do wonder what it must be like for Messi - he's touted around as the best player in the world right now and he's gone out to this World Cup with a team of players who are, arguably, not on the same level as him. From the start, the worlds media have hyped him up so that because he didn't tear every side a new arsehole, he's somehow failing - that sort of pressure must be unbearable. Maybe that pressure outweighed the occasion for him - perhaps, despite him doing his best in previous rounds and still taking stick for his performances, his motivation had gone.

Glad i'm not under that sort of scrutiny. Feel incredibly sorry for him, they got to the final afterall, that's hardly failing.
