Mexico were excellent for 65 minutes and only poor officiating robbed them and our old friend GDS a couple more goals. I was a little disappointed with Chile. Clearly they have talented players, and they were easily the better side, they just seemed poor tactically and allowed the game to get too open, they were very careless with the ball at times and defensively looked a little vulnerable.

As for the dutch dismantling of Spain, this was football at it's most incredible really. Who saw that coming ?

At 1-1 it had the feel of being a game with a few goals. My girlfriend bet on Spain winning 3-1, I bet on Holland winning 4-2, and Andy bet on them winning 5-1. I know he placed the bet as a bit of a joke, but I'm not sure how much he made!

I know but I watch ajax quiet a bit(my best friend is out in Amsterdam) and I think FDB will be better than Van Gaal. I also watch alot of the Spain team, whilst I don't like that first 11 they still were tactically good. Brazil never did this to spain. No one has.

Holland though have one of the very best finishers in Van Persie plus Robben is is world class in this department. Blind was good but make no mistake without these two they would never have won.

Haha, don't take it personal, I just kinda hate Mexico (don't worry, its not a hate born out of racisms, Im actually from Guatemala and we're usually not that fond of the Mexicans, even though we usually get along quite well . In fact, my first girlfriend was Mexican). I wasn't negging you, just your sympathy for the Mexicans.

Trust me, I know all about how amazing Hugo was... we hear about it every single day around here thanks to latin ESPN and Fox Sports (they are full of Mexican pundits, in fact, Hugo is actually offering punditry in ESPN for this WC, and he doesn't sound like he's full of BS or anything, so he's all right I guess).

So fucking diseheartening to watch teams with no true fans and all bandwagon fans win everything over teams with true fans that actually fucking care and live amd die by their team. For instance Miami with basketball and LA with hockey. Its just so disheartening and just makes me fucking miserable, pissed and makes me hate everything. Fuck sports.

can someone tell me why African teams and Mexico become impatient and abandon their midfields time and time again? A country like Mexico should be one of the best footballing nations in the world - 120 million people and every boy has a football as soon as he can walk. Instead you end up with what we saw today, a game played in the final thirds with almost no midfield possession. My theory is it has to do with poverty and a lack of patience.
