Just to let you know that sometime in the future I'm going to piss you off and make the match threads myself :p

Try not to go much beyond "tomorrow" as it starts to get silly with lots of empty threads :)

Agreed. I did the weekend now because I'm going to be drinking for the rest of the weekend. :)

So bent or incompetent?

Had bet on GDS as first scorer as well :-(

Looking forward to matches today. Not really expecting great matches (maybe Arg v Bos will be decent) but will be good to see how Switzerland and France play

Despite the ref, despicable Bra$il and Blatter trying to ruin the WC with the first 'game', it's been very good so far.

So much open play with teams going for it.

Let's hope the positivity continues today ... (y)

Last night's game was the first one I've seen so far without a contentious decision, which was nice.

I think you can place France in the category of historically great European teams, like Italy and Holland, that people have written off far too quickly. All three of these teams have several world class players, they have top managers, and they have the pedigree to win this tournament. Pogba, Remy, Benzema, Griezmann, Matuidi, Valbuena, Cabaye.... There's a lot of really good attacking talent there. The only concern for them are their fullbacks. I expect Rodriguez and Lichtsteiner to cause them all kinds of problems.

Speaking of the Swiss, they are the most talented team completely flying under the radar of the pundits. A few of us have discussed it here, but their first 11 is loaded with talent. I do wonder why Schar isn't starting today, though?

Really looking forward to the Switzerland-Ecuador match. Think Switzerland might surprise a few people though I don't know why they are so underestimated. Didn't lose a game in qualifying, only conceded six goals, beat Spain in the last World Cup and have some exciting talents like Shaqiri and Drmic.

Switzerland XI: Benaglio; Lichtsteiner, Von Bergen, Djourou, Rodriguez; Inler, Xhaka; Behrami, Stocker, Shaqiri; Drmic.

That's a Bundesliga and Serie A XI.

A lot of their top talent is dispersed across the Bundesliga and Serie A, so perhaps the English speaking media aren't as in the know as they should be. It's not just Shaqiri and Drmic though. They might have the best pair of attacking fullbacks in world football. Rodriguez and Lichtsteiner are top class players. Inler and Behrami are an excellent pairing in the midfield. Schar, who we should buy, is a top class talent in the making at centre-back.
