For a 21 yr old player playing in Hungarian league, Besic did a great job on Messi & Mascherno; Clubs will be queuing for him now;

Apparently he was linked with us in October 2013.

I know its a old link, but I hope Pochettino saw how he marked Messi & look at him as a transfer target; Besic was calm, cool & decisive and had a range of short & long passes - kind of player our midfield lack.

33 yr old Bosnia CB & their captain Sphaic was impressive too. If we are selling Dawson, I don't mind getting a leader like him; He has one yr left on his contract at Leverkusen; For a 2 year deal, certainly not a bad option IMO.

What way do people see the Ghana/USA game going?

USA are no soft touch and always seem well organised but think they'll lose. Ghana have a strong midfield with strength and vision. And KPB is probably better than any midfielder usa have, and their forwards are really pacey. Waris could be a surprise package.

He's the bad Dawson + the bad Kaboul. Slow, makes silly challenges and gets red cards.

I've just had a punt on Ladbrokes specials, Germany, Iran and USA to win (26/1) and Klose and Dempsey to both score first (50/1).

Well IMO, Germany will most likely loose against Portugal;

i) They are having huge problems in defence; 4 CBs playing in the XI
ii) Reus out injured with Scwheinstager out of form
iii) Lahm to be in CM partnering Khedira instead of defending against Ronaldo
iv) Kedhira who has hardly kicked the ball this season after his ACL injury
v) Klose is their primary striker - a 36 year old who has to play in the heat of 1PM kick off

Having said that, Portugal has a aged team as well; Biggest plus of Germany though is their ability to maximise their talent & play as a team,

I will be honest - I am basing my opinion only on this game;

I can't believe he is as slow as you make out; He easily defended against Ageuro's pace & trickery today; Even against Messi, he read the game very well;

I have seen how Dawson & Kaboul defends against Aguero - how much is it, 15-2 in 3 games City played recently ? I really can't see how Spahic could be as bad as Dawson or Kaboul, just on today's performance

He certainly looked a good player. Roberto Martinez, who was one for the commentators for ESPN's coverage here in the US, was raving about him. He knew all about him from his days in the Hamburg reserves and was saying he is equally as good in cb as cm.

I must say, from a nostalgia point of view it was rather nice being taken back to 1975 by Honduras' tackling.

There were moments in that game where I was waiting for a reference to the West Germany v Cameroon game from the 1990 World Cup!

I just went for Germany, Nigeria and Ghana at 27/1 on Betfair!

Surely Nigeria have a better team than Iran?

I'm really bloody struggling to keep up with the games already!!
Friday was fine, but by Saturday I was sleeping before Uruguay game had kicked-off, and right through England one.
Last night I had a migraine and only managed 20 mins of France game before going to bed to try and sleep it off.
Will miss Germany v Portugal cos of work and the train journey home.

Not bothering with the other 2 games tonight either.

Personally think we will see the first draw of the competition tonight, and actually have 2 of them.
Germany v Portugal & Ghana v USA. Nigeria will beat Iran.

TBF I judge him on his Montpellier years. I haven't really see him since (just in UCL vs PSG).

As for Germany and Klose : I think he will score if he plays. That's what he does, scoring in WC.

Yeah. I think you're right about nigeria, but I reckon the USA might grind a win out of Ghana and liked the odds.

That challenge by Bicakcic is one of the worst pieces of defending I have ever seen and I've watched Tottenham matches.

I love how you use Tottenham as your benchmark just to make sure we know how bad it could be.
