Ecaudor clearly have the better attacking capability but they're not great in midfield in terms of supplying that attack well enough.

If they had someone who could put their foot on the ball who could link and knit the play better they'd wipe the floor of Honduros.

Still think they;ll just about get the win. 2-1 I reckon.

Gus: "Honduras gave the ball to Ecuador who said why and gave the ball back..."

Perfectly sums this match up.

Exactly Gordon. Just like that Souness video I posted, Honduras do go in for the '1970s tackles'.

Some of the tackles in this match is how I'd imagine a match between Pulis' Stoke and Wimbledon's Crazy Gang of the 90's would play out.

I was saying before it started that this Italian side looked very sub standard. I think that was one of the worst performances I've seen by an Italian side a a WC. Prandeli's got to take she blame, talent wise he's got slim pickings for an Italian coach but tactically they were poor as well, and that was down to him to a degree.

Contrast with Deschamps who so far has been tactically spot on this tournament, leaving star players out, picking teams with good balance about them and applying them tactically to their best effect.

Am I missing something?

You mean Madrid or he's injured for the rest of the WC?

EDIT: or a third possibility ...

He's auditioned and going to be playing this Star Trek character:

Fair point. They'll probably beat Italy and go through after all of that. Can't count on the Italians much anymore either it seems. Let's hope our brave and plucky yeomen of the shires can battle to a draw in the last match against the mighty Costa Rica. Give the nation something to cling on to.
