Edit: Originally just a Sahin to Real thread, now a general thread for any transfer news.

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Nuri Sahin from Bundesliga Champions Dortmund for an alleged £10m fee. Personally I'm surprised that Utd. didn't pull out all the stops to sign him as a Paul Scholes replacement, he is class.

It also begs the question, who will leave Madrid? This season They've played (when fit and available)

Casillas
Ramos Pepe Carvalho Marcelo
Khedira Alonso
Di Maria Ozil Ronaldo
Benzema*

*Higuain would have played had he not been injured, probably, but Benzema has been in good form regardless.

Their second string XI would be, I guess:

Adan
Arbeloa Albiol Garay Gago
Lass Canales
Leon Kaka Granero
Higuain

And they've had Adebayor on loan. Obviously this second XI would walk into most teams, and there the general concensus seems to be that Kaka is going to be sold this summer, some suggesting in a swap for Lampard.

Personally, I would take pretty much anyone in that squad they're willing to let go, probably not Gago or Adan, Arbeloa would be decent left back cover though.

With Sahin, their pecking order for centre-mids will be something like:

Alonso
Khedira
Sahin
Lass
Granero

IMO, Sahin is more similar to Alonso and Lass more similar to Khedira, but I reckon Levy will be busy dealing with Madrid once again this summer because some of those out of favour players are definitely too good not to be playing football, and Real will be keen to let players go so as to make room for new acquisitions.

I don't get this. How can it just be for 10 million. That's ludicrous. If we went after him, we would have been quoted 30 million easy.

I thought the same thing.. It's not as if Real Madrid haven't got money either, I assumed he was soon out of contract, but he had two years left. Doesn't make any sense.

How long was left on his contract? Maybe he only had 12 months.

We should sign Diarra from them IMO.

10m surely can't be right if he had two years left on his deal?

Must be just the money Real have paid up front, with another 10m or so in Levy-esque installments. Only thing that makes sense to me.

Apparently he had a 10m euro buy out clause, makes a lot more sense now.

Allegri has also just said that Milan have signed Taiwo (Marseille) and Mexes (Roma) on free transfers.

I'd like some of our transfer dealings to begin now as well, what I wouldn't give for just one transfer window were we are all done and dusted before pre-season

Khedira will eventually drop to the bench then I presume.

Also Gago is a DM/CM.

Nota loss to us. Mexes would have been a disaster in the PL, he is a back peddlar to the safety of the 18 yard box type of Italian defender (I know he is French). Taiwo is alright, but not an improvement on BAE.

Oh yeah I know, I just put him there because they don't have another registered left back in their 25 man squad and he's left footed. I also think he's at the bottom of the pecking order for CM.

Top top player. Maybe Madrid we'll loan him out to us next season as compensation for knocking us out of the Champions League.

Ozil, Khedira and now Sahin, all from the Bundesliga, for what, around £12 million each average. Great business by RM. Wish we could get some of that action.

You have to hope that someone at Spurs is keeping their eye on the Bundesliga. Seems to be alot of talent coming out of that league in the last couple of years.

I imagine we've got folders and folders full of scouting reports, the problem is that players enjoy playing in the Bundesliga, so stay at their clubs, or at least in Germany, until someone massive comes calling. A lot of players in the BL would much rather play for a German club than us IMO. It's also the league which draws the highest attendances on average I think.

Therefore, players like Ozil / Sahin etc. will stay in Germany until Real Madrid or Barca want them, and probably United or Chelsea.
