After what I watched tonight!

I moved to Spain 8 years ago, yet even till this day, hold 2 season tickets in the West upper stand, travel to many home and away games from Spain, and recently paid a fortune for Showtime TV so I won't miss a single Spurs game, Tottenham through and through. You can change your wife, your home, your job, but you can never change your football team.... what's my point you ask?

I have seen it so many times before over the past 35 years, the manager has lost the support of his players. I watched the game tonight, and as the commentator Paul Jewell said, we had no fight, no spirit and no leadership. They are not playing for the manager anymore.

Big Sam was animated throughout the game, our manager stood without emotion, arms crossed, no motivation, and the team were a reflection of his lack of passion. We are now in serious trouble, Spurs supporters are looking at the fixture list, Blackburn home, Middlesborough away, and thinking tough games, and yet we look at the Arse fixtures, and wonder when they will get a tough game!

I can sympathise with Jol supporters, you haven't known anything better, and he's done ok over the past couple of seasons, but even you will be questioning him tonight. He's lost the plot, lost his players, and only a change of manager will temporarily change our fortunes. We need a manager that is NOT NICE, martin is sadly too nice. We need a manager the players fear and respect. We need a WINNER.

Doesn't matter who you are, where your loyalties lie, we are in deep trouble, and this time our manager doesn't have the ability to get us out of this situation, and this is not the first time he has found himself in this position over the past 3 seasons.

I respect what Jol has done, BUT, he has taken us as far as his ability allows, hand the reigns over to someone who can take us to the next level, maybe klinsmann, maybe Mourhino, but please this time a winner, with a pedigree of winning trophies, championships, even the Champions league.... well I can drean can't I.

I hope for martin Jol's sake, he resigns with dignity before he's pushed, but unfortunately it won't happen.

Managers will come, managers will go, but we are Spurs, FOREVER :) And I am not fickle! Just very very worried.

One question, why Klinsmann?

He has had one good world cup where they were the host nation and apart from Argentina played some easy teams. Klinsmann has no experience of being a club manager. There are vast differences between international football and club football. He will set this club back years. Also haven't we learnt from Ardiles and Hoddle? Just because they were great players for us it doesn't mean they are going to be a great manager.

Sorry mate, only quoting a few names mentioned on this site, it can only be Mourhino for me, he's won it all, and we have the money to support him. But, it's all conjecture, as Martin Jol is our manager, for the moment.

Personally I don't think Mourinho would go anywhere near this club. He left Chelsea on bad terms because Roman was getting involved in team selection, etc., and he also brought in people who would decide who Chelsea needed to buy, didn't listen to Mourinhos suggestions.

The exact same appears to be going on at this club. If Levy doesn't promise Mourinho full control over everything then he won't be interested.

I am 1000% certain that the Spurs board would give a manager like Mourhino carte blanche to get him to the club. But, as I stated Jol is currently our manager, and I suspect bigger fish than Spurs will be courting Jose, before us.

Agree to most of your worries loyalyid, but Jol isn't the main worry for me, it's the greedy b'stards that run the club, ever since Burkinshaw left with that telling final statement, 'There used to be a football club over there!', we've been run by charlatans looking to make money out of the club with no regard for the club itself or the fans (which, despite all the 'fickle' bullshit) I would put in the top 3 most loyal fans in the country. Unless some-one takes over with success for the club, as a whole, as the central tenet, we will continue to be seen by the rest as just a bunch of dreaming twats living in cloud cuckoo land.

Leave off

This board has been fantastic for this club and some of the people that you refer to as charlatans saved this famous football club from going to the wall.

Some members of the board have been great for this club (especially Sugar) but some are only involved to make more money for themselves.

As much as I hate to say it but as great as Levy has been for this club, his inexperience as a chairman of a big club got shown at the start of the season. He seems to have been copying the Kenyon/Roman approach of how to run a club. Could you imagine the Arsenal board or Man Utd board getting caught talking to another manager after 3 games or getting involved in which players are brought in? Of course not.

Levy and the board screwed up with the whole Ramos thing and the only way they can make up for it is by making sure they've got a decent plan in place for whatever happens. If Jol is fired then the board has to be certain that they've got the right replacement ready to take over straight away because we can't have another pointless season stuck with a caretaker in charge. If we miss out on UEFA Cup football next season then we are in big trouble.

I think he meant Vengaboys.

Levy should buy them. They appear to be able to make a wall that could block free kicks.

As I have said before the board have created this situation. 2 games into the season there was no crisis and the players fully supported a very good manager who had got us consecutive 5th place finishes.
Once the story hit JOL was a dead man walking with his players simply going through the motions until the new man comes in.
We will not get relegated because there are easily 3 worse teams than us and our class and squad will shine through are pathetic teams defending.
It's a bloody mess created by a greedy board who have *ucked themselves and us for at least 2 more seasons now.
