Would Andre Gray suit Spurs and bring the best out of Harry Kane?

When I was young and stupid, there was no twitter.
If you said something offensive you'd get punched in the face...I miss that world.

yup, don't think Yolo Minneapolis or his alt right wanker crowd would survive very long saying that shit to someone in person

He'd have his uses, if we brought him in I'd still want us to bring in another younger option with a higher ceiling.

Would much Demarai Gray from Leicester, has looked one of their best players and Poch would turn him into an excellent player. Him and Sessegnon would be cracking business this summer

Nope, we have a great team unit and wouldn't want a player with a history of homophobic public tweets to ruin the spirit in the camp.

Nice attempt at getting visits to your site though (y)

I genuinely prefer our team when it is full of likable players.

Andre Gray is a knuckle-dragging scumbag.

Fucking hell, some of u lot must have led perfect lives, having never made a mistake or a stupid decision when you were younger.
I don't overly rate him as a player but to rule him out because of some stupid tweets years ago is laughable imo.

Just to add that whilst it is true that almost everyone has at some point said something really stupid that they probably didn't mean, and that now social media can record those acts of stupidity - he posted homophobic and sexist stuff in 2012 when he was 21.

21 years old. Not 13 or 14. Posting stuff like "gays burn" and making comments about people who are mixed race may be written as statements of 'bravado' or concealing their own homosexuality rather than a true hatred, but just saying he's a changed man doesn't really wash with me. I'd rather we look elsewhere.

On another note, I liked the article and the site - good work

Gray is ok. Probably better players out there who can compete at our level but certainly there is an absolute minefield of players who are a lot worse.

By the way, well done on the article you linked to, if indeed you wrote that. It must've taken some effort to research and put it all together and that's a rarity online these days. I enjoyed reading it, keep it up!

Some people actually believe homosexuality is wrong sinful not right a form of mental illness that's their view but in today's society we all have to be inclusive, so posting online your dislike about someones orientation is silly and I'm sure other words can be used...it happened years ago He was punished and he might have changed his view with more education and understanding.

Is a good fit for Spurs... I doubt it.

Cheers Football Whispers. Link us to an average player and then at the bottom of the page post links to articles that pedal the notion of man utd buying our best player -

"Signing a mobile, well-rounded and constantly improving striker like Kane could take United to the next level in their post-Ferguson rejuvenation; they should do everything in their power to make it happen."

Appreciate the writer of the article is not the owner of the site so tell em to fuck off for me.

I get the sense that "Trasnfer Whispers" is nothing but your average click bait site. They aren't really going to offer the new concise analysis that they claim to. They're just chasing clicks with that Kane to United article.

Not perfect, but I don't think most of us have ever publicly advocated for mass murder either.

I'd be happy to see him in a Spurs shirt. Looks good to me. I'd take him over Zaha anyday.

If the @FootballWhispers gang chase too many clicks they will skew their own algorithms and implode in a recursive loop of speculation.

Looking down their list of articles, that seems to be exactly what they are doing. Lots of lists...8 players who... 7 reasons why... etc. Those come straight out of the first chapter in the textbook of clickbaitery.

The majority of our articles are statistical and tactical analysis. We attempt to look at links and break them down in an attempt to make sense of them.

Rather than debating FootballWhispers business strategy, I'll comment directly to the topic. I have a little bit of a problem seeing any PL forward that's worse suited to Pochettino's style. He has worse offside awareness than Jermaine Defoe, worse passing than Andros Townsend, worse defensive contribution than Chadli and worse ball possession than Sissoko. In fact, I'd rather have Defoe back as a make shift solution whilst trying to uncover a real gem.

Whilst I'm confident that the articles will stand up to some "rigorous" debate/opinions, can people also please give @FootballWhispers a chance to find their feet on here and work out what you all want.

They're bringing a lot to the table in terms of analysis (and personally I like the scientific approach to it) but at the same time we need to make sure we find the correct balance between drawing people in and offering them an interesting point of view.

I'll reemphasise again, a lot of the staff at FootballWhispers are Spurs fans and they want to write stuff you'll enjoy reading/discussing. It's about them building a readership and a reputation for decent analysis, not just getting a few cheap hits from you guys. Please give them a chance :)

Edit: By all means, disagree with their analysis (in a constructive manner) and I'm sure it's equally useful to give them feedback on their approach (but again, in a constructive manner please).

Edit2: I also think we'll see the real value to their approach during the transfer window so would really encourage people to at least give them that long before making a decision.

Can we not put these articles into their relative threads though? This is now essentially one article about Harry Kane, and one transfer rumour. I have no qualms about people posting articles in the right threads, in fact I encourage it. But peppering the main forum with this stuff just makes it look like it's being swamped in click bait.

We're still trying to decide if the front page is a better place for them and like I said, during the transfer window things will certainly be more structured but for now we're trying different approaches.
