Would Andre Gray suit Spurs and bring the best out of Harry Kane?

We're still trying to decide if the front page is a better place for them and like I said, during the transfer window things will certainly be more structured but for now we're trying different approaches.

I think that the front page would be great for them. If i was visiting this site for the first time and saw that the main forum was filled with topics promoting an external site, then my first opinion would genuinely be that the site was being spammed by a bot and the admins weren't doing anything about it, as can be clearly seen on other fan sites that look 'dead'.

Link spam is for Reddit, not for a forum in my opinion.

Two on topic articles that are generating discussion is a pretty strange definition of "link spam".

The point is that we want to generate a two-way relationship. We're not here to just chuck users at FW. We're here to help raise each other's profile, provide interesting content to users, etc. It's going to take a bit of work but overall it's going to benefit both sites (and that's without considering the financial stuff which obviously benefits us a lot).

Can we not put these articles into their relative threads though? This is now essentially one article about Harry Kane, and one transfer rumour. I have no qualms about people posting articles in the right threads, in fact I encourage it. But peppering the main forum with this stuff just makes it look like it's being swamped in click bait.

We try to be as transparent as possible with our headlines and posts so not to be accused of clickbait. Apologies if you feel otherwise. This isn't a spiel but we are different to other sites in the sense we go out of our way to add analysis to these links/claims in an attempt to look at the bigger picture.

It's two "on topic" articles that we already have topics for. For example, if a user on here posted about Andre Gray then it would be moved to the transfer rumours thread pretty much instantly. If a user posted their take on Harry Kane then it would be moved to the Harry Kane thread.

I understand that you are testing the waters, but for me personally, having them as separate threads on the main forum gives me a negative view of FootballWhispers and Spurscommunity. Doing it in this way inclines me to avoid FootballWhispers in a similar vein to how I avoid HITC or FootballFanCast.

I'm not denigrating your efforts to promote either site, I am just saying that there is a right way to promote, and a wrong way to promote. For me, this is the wrong way.

I think that the problem you will encounter is that this method is very reminiscent of those sites that are clickbait. This is no attack on your content, I am just pointing out that this method of promotion is similar to spam links. If you've spent time on the internet, then the association causes me to de facto not click on the link to your site.

And that's a much better response than whining about "site-whoring" :)

Yeah look I said already, and I do appreciate that they obviously go to time and effort to produce the articles, but I'm not really sure what is being contributed here. Literally thousands of SC members each day, Transfer window time in the TR section especially but also for the rest of the year with the Wishlist thread now etc, already work out/decide amongst themselves what a reliable source is, a rough estimate of the chances of a transfer happening (with that pinch of salt always at hand.......), the merits of said player including the use of stats, and discussion about how they might fit in and what may/may not need to change.

I think there are already people who see this as a bit click-baity and it gets a bit annoying, and is just sending traffic to another site to benefit in order to come back and discuss what is already being discussed already year round.

I wont say anything else, just thought as the big boss man himself is keeping his watchful eye on proceedings I'd leave a bit of feedback (y)

He's not better or even close to the level of players we already have.

He's doing *relatively* well with Burnley but this is proper shopping in the knock off basket.

Basically this. My reaction to them is based on the fact that they are using all the same hallmarks of the click bait sites. List articles, and spurious questions. There may be decent analysis within, but so far it's coming across as spamming, even if it's sanctioned spamming.

There's nothing wrong with sc promoting this site, but this is definitely the wrong balance imo. I certainly don't like the way the other Kane article thread had its title altered to look more appealing to us Spurs fans.

I'd also question why any Spurs fan would write an article about why Manchester United should do everything in their power to sign Harry Kane, other than to get clicks from eager United fans that is.
