It has emerged that Liverpool are paying Glen Johnson a staggering £139,000 a week.
Eyebrows were raised when the Reds splashed out £17million on the Portsmouth right-back this summer but his salary will leave fans gobsmacked.

btw, I thought we had a tight budget? Read somewhere that bassong is on 50k! Yes he has looked good but he had one prem season under his belt for a relegated team and was bought as back-up for king, woodie and dawson. Is this info true?

I don't see the big deal - £139k/wk translates to an annual salary of around US$11.7 million. Then again I live in a nation where athletes regularly make $20-25 million/year (which corresponds to roughly £237k-£296k/wk).
