All depends on who is leaving. As mentioned above - he takes up a non-HG slot, and really needs to be pushing for a starting spot in that case. I don't see him pushing anyone out of a slot, now, or in the near future. Now, if you tell me its Sissoko or Shaqiri - I'd say those hips don't lie, sign him up.

But, we already have too many non-HG players - had to leave Foyth off the CL roster this past spring. And, if you leave Juan Foyth off the roster, you are only using 3/4 of the roster spaces...

Blows hot and cold, not consistent enough from what I've seen. Can win a game almost single handed or go mia.

Tbf at £12m where are you going to get a better player off the bench? Liverpool are smart knowing they need to rotate their forward line and this is a very cheap way of achieving that.

We already have 2 off the bench better than him... Lamela and Lucas.
Our bench when healthy had:
Lamela, Lucas, Winks, Davinson, Wanyama, GK & a fullback. Thats with 4 at the back and the whole squad healthy. He doesn't even make the bench in the current squad as is.

I think some people are forgeting what's £12M can actually. buy you these days, he isworth a hell of a lot more than that and considering he has more silverware than out entire team combined it's not ridiculous, ability he has in abundance but lacks the mental side of the game. Poch says hi, He is not a old as u at this think either.

After all the hype we've been fed & what I believe are my 'levelheaded' or even reasonable expectations:

1. If Grealish is to be our first signing, I don't think I'll have too much difficulty coming to terms with it as, like many others, it's a 'meh' signing for me.

2. But if this guy is our 2nd signing, first I'll throw up, then I'll have to take a break.

And he achieved it by sitting on the BM bench. Well done.

Guardian assessment ..

"Cube of Power”, “Magic Dwarf”, “Alpine Messi” - Shaqiri has many nicknames. “But my favourite is my initials, XS,” he says. The winger started to make headlines at the 2009 Fifa Youth Cup aged 18 when he scored the decisive goal in the final as a substitute. After that, things moved fast. FC Basel, Bayern Munich and Inter. But he has always been hampered by muscular problems and didn’t properly settle until he arrived at Stoke in 2015. He’s likely to leave this summer following their relegation, with Everton, West Ham and Palace among those linked. XS remains the absolute darling of the Swiss fans and devotes more time than anyone else to signing autographs and posing for selfies

He’s not World Class but a very good player who for some time has played in an average- poor team.
In some ways he reminds me of a poor man’s Alexis Sanchez - technically gifted and strong but not blessed with pace or height. Under the right coaching and with some luck he could be a really good player.

I’d be surprised if he came to Spurs but perhaps this is the kind of “clever” deal Spurs need to be making.
