You're a terrible pessimist don't pass it off as realism. Fair enough being a bit of a cynic, but when you bang on with it in every post it becomes depressing and boring. That's why you get the grief you do. Nothing to do with "honesty and realism".
I'm not bothered about the grief I get in the slightest. I fully expect it. I always stand by what I think/my views etc but will always admit when I'm wrong , happily, as that will most likely mean something good has happened for Spurs lol.

I don't know about all this pessimism, but Stoke signing Shaqiri for £12m and Afellay on a free while we haven't yet signed an attacking player does not make me feel optimistic.

I really hope things are about to happen....

I'm not too concerned about Afellay- decent player but not what we need. Shaqiri on the other hand...

We can laugh at Stoke for assembling the FM 2010 dream team with Affellay, Bojan and Shairi - but the latter is still a massive coup for them.

Basel 92 games in 3 seasons > Bayern 52 games in 3 seasons > Inter Milan 15 games in one season > Stoke ?

is he really as good as what we think he is? Probably just looked really good at Basel

Put it this way, it will probably be a bit difficult to motivate himself on a rainy night in stoke.

To be honest, every player that has been signed by another team this summer has been hyped on here.

It all seems a bit Football Manager to me, and I'm sure even the good players must have sneaky low ball release clauses - otherwise I can't understand the sudden lack of ambition that's swamped Europe's 'talent'.

He's bound to score again us this weekend, though - and I was already jealous of Bojan. All change in the Potteries...

Its not a question of his ability its more his attitude, he will have moments of stand up brilliance followed by a games of fuck all.

I think you're underestimating the filth lucre that's sloshing around the EPL

And it's getting filthier next year!

On paper it looks like Hughes is turning Stoke into a team capable of actually playing football. I'm sure that if we'd been in for Shaquiri it would still be going round and round in circles only to slip down the plughole on deadline day.

He's decent for Switzerland but found that he drifts in and out of club games far too much without any real consistency.

Imagine he'll make a big impact in his first few matches and then you won't hear his name again after October for the rest of the year (shame that first one is against us lol)

He's very much like Townsend... his one and only way of playing is to run down the wing cut inside and shoot for the far post time and time again. Think he'll struggle against a decent defence that can work him out quickly.
