Going to get a lot of negs for this but if I had to pick between him or lamela coming off the bench to get a goal or create something I would prefer shaqiri.

assuming his attitude fits with our group he'd be a good option.

The concept of him not being of a certain level seems to me to underestimate his technical ability and also fail to appreciate how many good squads are built.

Leicester signed Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood, Mahrez was signed for 400k, Chelsea won the league with a converted attacker in Victor Moses at full back who had spent the previous season at West Ham. Ray Paulor was not at the same level as Dennis Bergkamp, Wes Brown or John O'Shea not the same level as Rio Ferdinand. Yet all these players played important roles in league winning squads. I could go on there are a ton of examples of unfancied players playing key roles in successful squads. Fabian Delph another example a player you would think not on the level of many in the Man City squad, played a vital role this season despite never being a marquee signing.

Equally there are a ton of examples where clubs sign 'high level' talent for 'high level' money only to receive a poor player. Football and squad building is a complex business with almost all squads being about blends from top level players down to squad players lucky punts and youth prospects.

On paper Shaqiri is exciting because we know he can perform to a high level in the Premier League, he fills a gap in our squad giving us a technical backup or alternative to Eriksen Alli, Son or Moura. He has European big club experience with Inter and is a key man in his national side. His 12m release clause makes him undervalued in the market. Even if his signing didn’t work out the potential to invest 12m and turn it into 20m within a year is there.

It makes sense for us to try and sign him, if it makes sense to him is another matter.

We don't need more squad players and he hasnt set the world alight with Stoke, so it's a no from me.

then if we did score, who would you prefer out of the 2 when we need to hold on and see the game out?

How many more squad player do we need? What's the point in having Lamela,Moura and Son if we need another player on the bench who's been incosistent all his life and thinks he's too good to even track back.

If he’s our only attacking signing, I would be disappointed. But as an N’Koudou replacement, very happy for £12m. If we got another one in, having Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lucas, Lamela, Shaq, Kane & another we suddenly have lots of options for the 4 attacking positions.

My guess is he will end up at Southampton, especially as Hughes is manager there.

Anyone who thinks Levy is going to sign any player without Poch;s consent in the current climate i.e. Real Madrid looming is not thinking clearly and if this rumour is true and Poch is ok with it then why would any spurs fan want to call a Poch call a no way deal
I have often thought that sometimes near the end of games when needing a goal we bring on the same old same old when what is required is something different and this man is different and would give us the unexpected so say if the rumour is true then its a yes from me

All I see is "Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Shaqiri, who is currently preparing for the World Cup with his nation.". Where is this, It's Levy buying him but Poch doesn't want him coming from?

He really isnt as bad as some people are making him out to be. Let's not forget he's had Mark Hughes as manager for most of the time while in England. If he had poch as his manager...

No idea why we're even discussing this player, we've finished top 3 the last 3 years he'd get nowhere near the City, Utd or Liverpool team. The mentality of the club and fans has to change if we're to challenge, we need to improve the starting X1 not add mediocre players, we've got plenty of them.

Didn’t one of the ITK’s mention something about a smart attacking signing that was under the £20m range?...

If we are spending £100m-£150m this summer, I would much rather we went and bought de Ligt, a £50m midfielder, another midfielder circa £30m, as that’s the area that needs addressing most...of we had the change left over for Shaq, would be hard to turn down.

Having Shaqiri seen since he came through at FC Basel, I don't think that he would be a good fit for Tottenham. He certainly does have Match-Winner qualities, which means that he can score decisive goals out of absolutely nothing.

However, for me his attitude speaks against him. He goes missing during games and he does often seem lazy on the pitch.

Also, if things do not go his way, he blames anyone but himself. Earlier this year he mentioned in a Swiss newspaper, that there is not enough quality in the Stoke team besides him to avoid the drop. This might we'll be true, but I seriously would not want a player who speaks that disrespectful about his teammates.

He should go to Southampton and then hope that Liverpool come in for him eventually. He has definitely not done enough to earn a move to Tottenham.

No-one would set the world alight at stoke lol.
Attitude and being on a slide downwards in terms of his peak would be my concern. The idea he isn't good enough for us is just bollocks like has been said on many a match day thread if CE isn't playing we really struggle this guy has creativity and can still produce some magic. Having said all that I just don't see him as a poch player.

Much sooner Shakira on my back.

The thought of her ripping the shirt off and swinging it aloft post scoring.

there's a reason he ended up at Stoke, he never lived up to his potential. however, if he's available for 12 million and willing to ride the bench I wouldnt object
