Yago Falque has joined Primera Liga promotion hopefuls Almeria on loan until the end of the season.

Source: Official Site

The Spanish attacking midfielder has made 11 appearances since joining the Club permanently from Juventus last January, following an initial loan spell.

Personally, I'm not sure he will make the grade at Spurs. He lacks pace or dribbling skills to play wide, and doesn't have the physical presence or vision to play in the hole. Not a bad player but not really good enough, and lacks the physicality to 'do a job' in English football. Wouldn't be surprised if we offloaded him in the summer to be honest.

Weird signing, at least he didn't cost that much. Not sure he's even good enough to be backup for the first team, although he hasn't played much so I don't really know. Hopefully he can get alot of playing time at Alm.

Interesting Iago has said he personally chose to go to Almeria from a number of choices he had available and citing he wants to be apart of the "project"(god I hate that word) but he started training last monday and missed their game on wednesday, he has said that he isnt near match fitness but he is good enough to play

The play Madrids B team, Castilla on Monday
He played 40mins yesterday and got booked for breaking up a counter, Castilla did win 2-1, Im hoping to listen to the next match if I have time but my spanish is nonexistent so should be interesting

Falque made his debut tonight - think he got an assist in the 5-1 victory for Almeida. One of the pictures on the official site report says 'Iago Falque was one of the sensations of the party' so it appears he did well.
Dammit I was suppose to listen to this match :banghead:, but its nice to know he did well on his first start as their wasn't much from his cameo against Castilla about his performance going forward

Falque is starting for Almeria today. They are playing Guadalajara and are currently down 2-0.

However, he has been fantastic. Playing primarily on the left wing. He's keeping the width really well and has had a couple of fantastic runs off the ball and a good cross so far. He's also been active tracking back.

This might be a great loan opportunity for his career.

I'm all for helping a player get his foot in the door even if it's not with us in the long-term.

He's been fantastic now the past two matches, and I'd be willing to bet there is some sort of option to buy in that loan should Almeria be promoted. With that extra money, he might become one of their sought after targets.

Me personally? I still want to see him get a shot with us. He's got a similar style to Juan Mata (Not saying he's Juan Mata) in that he can fluidly attack from all positions - 2nd striker, left wing, right wing, centrally.

I agree, I said the same thing when he went there about the option to buy, frankly im gutted we didnt send him to la liga, Im amazed no one there would want him but with 2 years of no football I hope this will bring his confidence as when he was doing well for U21 it was just getting too easy for him i.e. he wasnt giving it 100% and was playing well by going through the motions

I would be gutted if we let him go without giving him a fair chance in the league. He isn't the youngest of players anymore, but everything I have read and what I have seen was decent enough to do a good job as squad player. With Bale going into the middle we could need him on the left. Where is the point of playing Dempsey instead?

Played another 85'+ today for Almeria.

Found this while searching his name on Twitter (Just a random one, but there's a ton of praise for him on there):

Jose @
Do not want to exaggerate, but I think Iago Falqué is the best player I've ever seen the shirt of Almería

Snarf stopping making me angry by suggesting we sent him to the wrong division and that he should of gone to la liga

Well he'll be getting confidence from these performances and maybe he can step up next season?
