Even though the lack of the Fergie Effect was obviously going to make this season difficult I doubt many of us would have considered that with 8 games left to play, Spurs, Everton and Man U would be scrapping for a Euopean Cup place!

What's gone wrong? Can a team that is more or less identical to the Premier League winners of last season be THAT much worse with so few changes. Was Fergie simply the best manager out there or is Moyes simply the worst? How can a player like Fellani show a year long slump in form despite playing under the same manager and with a better set of players around him?

Also with the rumours of LvG on his way to Spurs, could it be that a Manu failure to qualify for the European cup mean they give Moyes the boot and take LvG to Old Trafford?

Fair enough this isn't completely Spurs related but I thought it would be interesting to see a neutral take on the Manu crisis

Could of maybe put in General Football.

I knew they wouldn't get top four this season, but I didn't know they would be quite as bad as they are. A squad, many of whom grew up and were moulded by Fergie, were never going to take to a new manager quite so quickly. Having said that the reason they find them selves in this position is in part Fergie's or the Glazer's fault. Their has been a failure to reinvest in key areas all over the pitch (apart from up from), if you look at Last season how they one that was more down to City's collapse than United's football. Anyhow I'm loving it as most of my friends are Yanited fans.

You do have to give them some credit, even though most hate Moyes now, right up till recently they still believed. Personally I don't think there will be a dramatic improvement next season without spending £100-£200M, Giggs will be gone, Vidic and Evra 2 so that's 3 key area's like us they need a left back to and a midfielder. They will be like Liverpool were for a few seasons and IMO Moyes won't be there, although I do think he will start next season.

I believe Fergie saw this coming little money to invest because of the Glazers and he took one more stab at the title before calling it a day. I don't think Moyes was the man for the job you need someone who's managed big clubs to do the United job now. Mata was a panic buy and not needed. Fellani isn't a United type of player but he's a Moyes type of player.

A year out of Europe, will they still have the financial clout to re invest in the squad?

Didn't help that Moyes ripped out all the backroom staff and replaced them with his own.

Was always going to happen, just glad it has finally. There was no way they could keep doing what they had, Fergus timed his exit to perfection.
Will they bounce back? Of course they will, it might take them three or four managers as I just can't see it happening under moyles, he is collateral damage in a massive reinvestment in playing staff.
Let's just enjoy it whilst it lasts!

I can't believe that an experienced manager like Moyes made such fundamental mistakes: (1) he took on a poor team which, even though it had won the league, needed major surgery (Fergie picked the right timeto leave); (2) he totally dismantled the back team; and (3) he overestimated how good he is!!! :)

He should have stayed with Everton.

Is it a surprise that managers are so important? Thats why everyone is chopping and changing every 5 minutes and managers like Wenger get £6m a year.

Fergie was the regarded as the best of all time so there was always going to be a change and Moyes hasn't proved dynamic enough to manage the change.

Fingers crossed same happens at Arsenal when Wenger leaves!

"Yo man! Im from the USA, Ive been a big fan of the United since they were formed in 1993! Last night was my 1st game at the Old Trafford United Stadium! I ran into some buddies from home, Chad and Troy! They go once a year and have all the latest jerseys and scarves, the Norwich City one and Umbro ones too! Everyone was real nice to us, I didnt realise you guys all talk with London accents, thats so cool!

I just really wish we came last week instead because we heard we missed the open top bus parade for the Champions League Quarter Final Cup. Man we're real upset about that! I was a little confused on why Man United had a fire drill last night with 5 minutes to go? We followed everyone else out and missed City's final touchdown too! Hope to see you guys next season, we've already applied for a couple Champions League tickets for next season so see you all then! Laters"
