Too bad things didn't clearly work out for him; I think Spurs asked him to join their squad a little too quickly when they were having problems earlier at R.B.
I don't blame him for thinking about staying at Sunderland; he's already made one unsound move (career-wise). It's Spurs turn now to put his needs first....may be try him at Right-mid-field?

I said at the time it was a pointless signing and he wouldn't get games and would be shipped out on loan.

I don't think it was a pointless signing. On the field it didn't make an impact, but I assume it improved brand awareness in the U.S., and I expect Levy to make a small profit in the end.

He was a speculative signing, someone who might have gone on to great things or might not make the grade. It's looking like he won't cut it now so if there's a decent offer for him I'd be inclined to cash in. I wondered if he might have a future as a winger because he's quick and when I've seen him, doesn't seem to fancy defending that much.

We were playing Dier at RB a lot with Walker injured when we brought him in. With Trippier and Walker-Peters in line he's surplus now.
