I do actually not rate Maguire at all. Don’t think he is good but I realise this is an unpopular opinion in the middle of the world cup glory.

He works well in Southgate’s system.

Mina was definitely outclassed by Sanchez, though Sanchez has had two full seasons in Europe.

I agree with this. Maguire is good in the air and I like how he comes striding out with the ball at his feet, however I think defensively he is suspect. His positioning and awareness seem poor and I wouldn't be happy having someone in our back line that gives me heart in mouth Kyle Walkeresque brain farts every game. Mina seems good in the air and strong but not a lot else for me.

The real test for Maguire will be Croatia. He never stood out for me last season. He was just good. This world cup he hasn't really been tested.

Yes but as @parj said he hasn’t really been tested. He can be a bit slow and static so it will be interesting to see him against Croatia, especially if Rebic or Perisic try to run at him.

Yeah, I think we would be down grading in a huge way on that one. Besides don't think Mina or Maguire are going anywhere.

I bet 75% of Spurs fans would agree with you now but 75% would have disagreed with you at the time.
This. I went to a lot of hull city games last year and he stood out but I never thought he was brilliant and probably Leicester level. Not quite as good as he has shown

Goals conceded by Colombia in this World Cup = 3
Goals scored by Yerry Mina in this World Cup = 3

I'm not as convinced he would be a terrible signing as some of the posters on this thread are :cautious:.

Is Barça selling, or only loaning? I thought it was loan only, not even an option to buy, but I don't know where I heard that.

Pairing Mina, Sanchez and Jan togheter would've been awesome. Mina don't fit the way of play at Barcelona, according to a friend of mine who is a Barcelona fan
Mina impressed me during the WC with three goals. All of them from corners. Can't remember the last time we scored a header.

Got a vague memory of pleat saying he turned us down as he wanted to play every game. Remember being impressed by it at the time.

With the way the Toby situation panned out he probably would've played every game! Oh well, never mind!

Mina is raw, but I think he has a lot of upside and for the right price it could be good bit of business. Obviously a threat from corners and it couldn’t hurt to have a buddy for Sanchez in and around the squad

I do however think we should trust Foyth with more game time and opportunities to step up, and signing another CB who is essentially raw promise like Mina could and would stifle his progress

Everton being linked to £21m deal today in the press.

Think spurs should be looking at him for that price.

Long term partnership with Sanchez and massive goal threat.

Let Vertonghen teach them and we are set for the next 10 years at cb.

I’m guessing the relatively low price includes a buyback clause for Barca - which we won’t do.

Similar to their deal for Deulofeu who Barca brought back to try and sell him on for more.

Yeah Barca are notorious for this.

Not for me. He's fantastic in the air and abominable on the ground.

Both Barca and Real do it a lot.

If you’re the first team to buy the player don’t expect to keep them. They’ll almost always exercise the buyback in order to sell the player on for more money a year later.

Seemed to do ok against Harry, Dele and the rest of the England boys...
In fairness everyone except Panama did about just as well against “Harry, Dele, and the rest of the England boys”. So unless you’re also interested in whoever the fuck Tunisia had at CB I’m not sure you’ve got much of a point here.
