Hello. My name is Steve Gibson and I'm the Chairman of Middlesbrough Football Club. I've hacked into the account of popular SC member and all-round good egg, Bill_Oddie, as I need your help.

In my time at Boro we have become established as a decent Premier League team. This in spite of me appointing some truly dreadful managers. However, now we're in big trouble. MFC needs help. Your help.

So, to guide us away from the threat of relegation, tell me:

a) Who can we (realistically) sign that will help us for the rest of this season and beyond? We have a transfer budget of 12m pounds, plus any money you can generate from selling any of our existing players (good luck with that, though - oh, and I'll refuse to let you sell Downing to Tottenham ).

b) What team and formation should we send out for the massive home game against Blackburn this Saturday?

c) There needs to be one older, wiser head (a relative term when you're talking about Southgate, I know) added to our coaching staff. Who should we appoint?

I await your suggestions anxiously.

Yours,
Gibbo

Well Steve this post deserves an honest answer.
A- Gilberto, he's worth 12m of anybody's money particularly yours
B- 1-1-7-1 (7 right wingers) Popular Brazillian formation Juninho used to like it
C- There are so many to choose from I suggest big Ron he'd make you popular backed up with the tactical know how of David Pleat.
This would mean we wouldn't get to see him struggle pronouncing Chimbonda or Palacious or King but it could only have a positive effect for you.

Do you know, I was giving everyone the benefit of the doubt that we actually have some football fans on here rather than just tribal sheep bleating 'COYS!' and 'We 'ate Arsenal' without a greater appreciation for the game we play.

To my mind, if you can't debate football issues about other clubs then your opinions of Spurs are worth shit and you should be banned (No offence, yeah?).

Is that going to generate any intelligent discussion or shall we just agree that you don't actually understand the game of football?

Love and hugs
Bill
