I actually felt that Younes was gradually coming around...from being constantly bothered by niggly injuries last season to at least starting out injury-free this season to finally finding his form. Of course he won't play at the level he did v's Arsenal all the time, but does look as if he can be a most reliable partner for Vertonghen.

Good to see Eunice getting back to some form. He and Verts are clearly our 1st choice partnership as they compliment each other and know each other's game. Giving Kaboul the captaincy may prove to be a masterstroke by Poch as his main deficiency is his all too frequent brainfarts and being captain may help him keep his concentration.

I think Fazio and Chiriches could form a similar complimentary partnership for the cup matches. Fazio has the aerial dominance Chiriches clearly lacks and the Romanian has the speed Fazio lacks. They also compliment each other bringing the ball out of defence with Fazio a decent long ball passer and Chiriches capable of running with the ball.

And of course we have Dier who's versatility makes him an invaluable asset on the bench. Vjelkovic is a promising youngster as well.

The important thing though is to develop partnerships that know their roles and compliment each other. You can cover for weaknesses and lack of individual skills if you can get the balance right.

He was MOTM for me by miles but I read somewhere else rated it to Ox-Chamberlain?

Said that a while ago too and got savaged...as you do.

And you're right, he won't be that great all the time but him and verts is def. the best partnership.

Everyone's wise after the event.

I also said the same, that he will get better.

I didn't get people questioning Poch's decision to make him captain because he wasn't vocal enough. It didn't prevent Ledley from being a good skipper.

Well this proves not to take football advise from 95% of you guys on here.
There are multiple examples to back that up of course but I'm not here to argue. YK is a fine player with quite a few injuries to get over so give him time and he'll play like he used to or get dropped. No point arguing that Poch needs time without backing him in his choice for captaincy.

Jermaine Jenas was always outstanding against Arsenal... I was one who thought Kaboul was past his best and up until Saturday he didn't look good. I will be very happy to be proved wrong and I hope I am. Saturday was an excellent first step back to his best but we do need to see it over a run of games.
