One of our longest serving players, a big presence in the team and has a personality so I'm not surprised. The only surprise is Ade being made vice captain, seriously WTF...

Surprised by the choice, only because of his previous fitness issues. If he can play every game, or the majority at least, then fine, but if he is still struggling and going to be a passenger in most then maybe it's a bad appointment.

As for Ade, maybe they are trying to encourage him to take on more responsibility on the pitch and look after the younger players off it. Like Man Utd/England with Rooney.

A strange desicion to say the least not sure I agree with it but I accept Poch's desicion. So does this mean Fazio won't be first choice ? Although King was club captain and was injured for a long while, Dawson was a more than capable captain on the pitch. With Adebayor this might be a shrewd move by Poch, giving him more responsibillity could make him up his game a bit. I would have prefered Loris as captain but the manager hasn't made many wrong desicions so far so In Poch we trust.

We as supporters don't know what happens in the background i.e training and in the dressing room.
Agree

Kaboul has obviously done enough to impress MoPo and before the serious injury he was undoubtedly our best defender. The injury he had was serious and can take a long time to recover.
Agree

He's now had that time and although he's not been perfect I've seen a gradual improvement.
Agree

His promotion to permanent captain will be similar to Dawson, I think he'll be in the main Club Captain which doesn't guarantee you a starting place but gives you recognition for your commitment and service for the club.
Agree

As many before me have said when our players play to their full potential there are not many you would swap. Watch the game he had when we beat the arse a few years back. This guy is a Leader. At his best he is commanding and relentless.

I have faith that the Potch knows what he is doing. There has already been improvement from last year in the way we play. This style will take time to perfect but you can already see a "philosophy" more pleasing to the eye.

As a long time fan very optimistic about how we will go this season. COYS.

Sheer lack of alternatives. To think a couple of years ago we had King, Dawson, Parker, Gallas, VdV...

Exactly. The problem is that we lack leaders and players who know the league inside out. What worries me (apart from having to trust Younes with the armband) is that Jan (who used to captain Ajax) has been left out of the loop entirely, and is yet to put pen to paper on his contract extension.

This years Rose obviously as nobody likes him all of a sudden.

Shame on you doubters, we're 4 games in and his attitude has been good ffs.

Surprised to see a lot of people in this forum so surprised. Yes, Kanoul has not been at his best lately, but he is one of the longest serving player in the squad barr Lennon. Between the two, I'll choose Kaboul anytime. Just because he's more a prominent figure. A club captain lead by example (though loosing the ball not a good example), lift the spirit of his mates on the pitch and in the changing room, able to back your mate and confront the ref in need. And I see he's one of the most vocal on the pitch.

Remember, we're choosing a club captain. He'll be the skipper on the pitch if he plays, if not Lloris will. King was our long time club captain even though he spends more of his time in surgery room. I foresee Kaboul will play more in the cup ties rather in league games. He'll be proud to lift one of the cups, I really hope so.

I like that Ade is vice captain - he has more experience than all the other players (look who he has played for!) and this will make him feel more a part of the team and motivate him. I think he probably is a good influence in the dressing room too.

i dont' see why this is so surprising. He's a leader. He's had a few lapses at the start of this season, but when fit has always been a rock for us in the past.

I see continuity behind the decision: the club's worst central defender gets handed the post. The VC to Ade may some sort of psychological prompt to formally give him responsibility, but not too much. I wonder what Vertonghen is thinking.
