I put it to you:-

Picture this...Your appointed DOF for the coming summer and your put in charge or transfers. You have 40mill to toy with but you must also trim the squad, therefore clearing out the dead-wood. Who do you buy-in? Who do you show the door?

Transfers can be ambitious but must remain REALISITIC

Players in:

Garay - CB - 12mill
Capel - LM - 9mill
Poulsen - CM - 6mill
I would assign my scouts to be scouring europe/south america for a new GK and possible striker. I do not have the relevant knowledge in this required field to pass judgement on a suitable GK or STK.

Players out:

Cerny - Terminate loan
Stalteri - 0.5
Gardner - 1.5 rising to 2mill
Ghaly - 1mill
Chimbonda - 6-8mill
Rocha - 2mill
lee - 2mill

I would keep D.Bent for the forseeable future, i think he will prove doubters wrong, im not justifying spending 16.5mill on him but i do think theres a lot more to come from him. I'd be tempted to send out an enquiry into the availiability of Sidwell at Chelsea as i think he'll come good for his next club.

These are just a few ideas, i know Comolli gets slaughtered by half the users on this site, so just running an idea past you, as to what activity you would make in the close-season.

PEACE.

Players In:
New GK (eg Kameni, Almeria) - c£6 million
Garay - £12 million
Capel - £9 million
Lucho Gonzalez - c£12 million
David Villa - £25 million
Total: £66 million

Players Out:
Robinson - £5 million
Chimbonda - £6 million
Dawson - £7 million
Bent - £13 million
Gardner, Stalteri etc - c£2 million
Total: £33 million

Reasoning: if we sign another CB (eg Garay), then we'd have to sell one of Dawson and Kaboul, and I think Kaboul has more potential. If we can afford Villa, I think we should sign him.

That still leaves £7 million to sign some outstanding kids.

Isn't Garay off to Barca?

Those are the rumours. But, last summer there was supposed to be "a done deal" to take him to Real Madrid. I've long suspected that the big Spanish clubs set up deals in principle (equivalent to first options) for certain players, and then if someone they consider better comes along, the deal lapses.

Plus they change coaches so often that deals often fall through. Eg Schuster replaced Capello at Real, and suddenly they signed CBs Pepe, Metzelder and Heinze and the "Garay done deal" just vanished.

If Rijkaard leaves Barca in the summer, the new coach may have his own ideas about who he wants to compete with Milito, Puyol, Marquez (and possibly Thuram) at CB.

I hope and expect that Juande's Spanish contacts will secure us some top young Spanish players at knockdown prices over the summer.

I would probably try to sign Kameni in goal, Garay in defence and Albelda for midfield.

The players I would let go because I don't want them are Cerny, Rocha, and Ghaly. I would not be able to guarantee Tainio, Dawson and Chimbonda 1st team football so if they wanted to go I would allow them to leave but if I could keep them I would.

Don't see the need to sign a LW as I would play Bale there and Assou-Ekotto at LB (Haven't seen Gilberto play)

Chimbonda can go, accept £5m for him. Gardner to go, another £1.5m. Bent, if we can get £8m, i'd take it. Aside from that, i see a role for pretty much everyone else, but we are a bit light on right wingers, with only Lennon and JJ really suited to play there, JJ nearly always playing centrally. I also think that someone pushing Lennon for his spot will make him improve even more - He's begun to make progress again, i don't want that to stop so, with that in mind, and our increased budget from sales:

£40m+£8m+£5m+£1.5m = £54.5m

Leo Messi £35m
Philip Lahm £7m
Giles Barnes £6m

spend the rest on youngsters whose names i don't know.

I'd sign myself on a free, but give myself a £40m signing on fee.

Seriously though:
Ustari/Almeria - £6-8m
Poulsen - £7m
Aguero £15-18m (not sure they'd accept though)
Wes Brown - Free - alright, not the best, but for free, if he turns out crap, we could just sell him to Newcastle for £15m or so:)
Lulinha and Sergio Mota - £7m for both, or either, but I doubt any of them would join, although I've heard Lulinha has lost his form, after exposure to the first team, he's not been able to cope.

I'd sell:

Gardner - £1m
Stalteri - £500k
Ghaly - £1m

Then if these wanted 1st team football, I'd let them go for the right offer:

Robinson - £5m+
Dawson - £4m+
Rocha - £2m+
Tainio - £4m+

I'd then send some scouts to South America, Spain, and Bulgaria (maybe they can find another Berbatov:razz:)

I'm pretty sure you can add Robbo to that list.....if he's not content with the bench next season. I'm quite sure that Ramos is far from impressed with him as no 1 goalie

Robbo won't be going anywhere and his dip in form was just that. He was recalled, even though Cerny had made only one noteable ricket, and had a great game, bar one ricket.

He's got quite a few years as a keeper left, he's not even 30 yet, and has already stood up to the most pressure he will likely ever face as a keeper for his country and his club.

The fact so many of you can calmly say he's shit all of a sudden and to get rid of him makes me laugh.

Once again; it starts with an F, ends in an ICKLE.

Hope none of you treat your "mates" like this.

Why all this fickle all the time :sleepy: Would have been fickle if he was raised to the sky just because we won the last game he played in.

He's shite.....really shite at crosses and that has nothing to do with "dip in form". Surely you must see this?? He just ain't a topclass keeper, simple as that.

In the game against chelsea he flapped like a maniac every time crosses came against him.

And that "dip in form" you're mentioning has lasted more than a season soon.

your pissing into the wind man, even Robbo's realised he'll most likely be off in the summer.

I also don't believe that he'll play in everygame for the rest of the season, Ramos will continue to rotate him and Cerny.

Yep, shite - Englands number one for, sorry, how many games? Played in goal, at the top level for us for, sorry, how many games? He's, sorry, how old?

The answers are 41, circa 130 and 28.

He's not shite, you just have a really selective memory, i happen to recognise that all he needs is a coach who can push him in the right direction.

Lennon had a shit season last two years, i was even saying he needed dropping - now look at him. JJ, sucked Satans cock since we bought him then, magically, Ramos appears and he's playing like a demon. Zokora & Huddlestone, both had their critics for poor shows, for longer than Robbo's been sitting it out, but you all left them alone - why? Cos they're not in the spotlight like Robbo is.

Sometimes i think we don't deserve decent players when we have fans who don't appreciate the real talent we've got already.

THAT is why i say FICKLE a lot because Flavour-of-the-month fans piss me off.
