Nothing to lol here. We had these 2 playing against Liverpool in all those previous 4,5 games. What happened then ?
They both played in the game we smashed them last year so I don't see a correlation? We also tied them at Anfield last year...

Guess we shouldn't play Lloris, Kane, Toby, Vertonghen, anyone then just roll out the U-23s.

Do you mean the game we won 4-1 in October 2017, when Liverpool defense had Mignolet, Moreno, Matip & Lovren ???

Why dont we just look at recent games ?

In my XI (everyone has their opinion), I dropped Eriksen because currently he is the worst outfield player on form. His passing has dropped so badly. I would happily play Eriksen if Winks isnt fit. Son is just a choice of type of football. I just feel we will be better with Llorente so Kane can get some space with him coming back from injury.

Winks has to start. We’re only going to win if we have some kind of control in midfield. This has been largely missing since Winks has been out making matches more end-to-end lotteries. If we try that against Liverpool I feel they’ll easily outscore us.

Agree on Winks. Winks gives that composure on ball which none of our midfielders can give.

Thought you were joking at first.

Last time we played Liverpool we were poor finishing away from taking 3 points, we dominated them that second half. Game at Wembley could have easily got a point and last season got 4 out of 6 so to say Eriksen can be dropped because he hasn’t turned up against them is both ludicrous and wrong.

You were the one that said the last 4/5 games...

Just a wee bit dramatic there.

Fuck me, we’ve got three weeks of this! I’m considering asking my GP to put me in an induced coma for at least a fortnight. I’d save a fortune on Stella, too, and I doubt they’d notice at work...

We are just playing in this thread of who they think should play & try to reason for it. I know well enough to know Poch won't drop Eriksen. But , I am just making a case here.

We are in CL finals with Sissoko & Llorente playing in XI with Lucas scoring a hatrick in semis. Who would have thought this when were 1 point from 3 group games ?

So, people should take this thread as light hearted instead of ridiculing the ones choices.

Some here feel aggrieved because I chose to drop Eriksen, who is clearly on his bad passing form. I am just going by yesterdays game. Except for the brilliant free kick, his outfield passing rate should be pretty low. In my XI, it was a choice between him & Dele. I chose Dele. But main thing is, I feel we have a better chance against Liverpool back4 with long balls and Kane, Llorente & Lucas playing close together..

This wont be the XI of the final but I am just making a case.

Lloris

Trippier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose

Eriksen - Sissoko - Winks

Lucas --------------- Dele --------------- Son

Gazzaniga
Aurier
Walker-Peters
Foyth
Sanchez
Davies
Dier
Wanyama
Skipp
Lamela
Llorente
Kane

I'm not sure Kane can do 90 let alone 120 minutes and you want him on at the end. I'd bring him on at around 60 whatever the score is.

Sissoko - Dele

Moura - Eriksen - Son

Kane

Trippier is going to start, go ahead an accept that now. Even though he's a defensive liability and his crosses are going to be worthless with VVD in the middle, Aurier hasn't played in months. Also, Poch has been pretty loyal to him. I don't expect Winks to start, but he'll likely make the bench. At the very least, Dele and Eriksen can run for days and will be better equipped to track their runners than any of our other options. I'd kill to have an even 75% fit Dembele for this match. I also wish Dier and Wanyama hadn't regressed this season. I think Poch's use of the back-3 has been in response to not having a true defensive midfield who can drop into the back line.

Kane will be the controversial inclusion, but I think we have to have a true forward playing to occupy VVD. It opens up space and gives us SOME height on set pieces. As crazy as it sounds, I'd include Llorente if Kane isn't fit.

Right-back is the area of concern, particularly vs Mane. Physically, Aurier is perhaps the best pick but his lack of concentration and poor decision making rules him out. Defensively, Foyth would be best but he has looked understandably shaky at times in that unnatural position. KWP isn’t trust enough yet. So that leaves Trippier. Defensively he can be awful, but he is the most experienced and still seems to be Poch’s favoured RB. Just got to hope Sissoko can cover him, with Winks playing that metronomic, central role in midfield.

Definitely. We need to play 4312 imo:

Lloris
Trippier Toby Verts Rose
Winks
Sissoko Eriksen
Kane
Lucas Son
Alli to come on for Kane when he can't run any more!

I can't see Kane not starting. He's going to be fit for the game. He may be rusty but he's a genuine world class player, not starting him would be a huge gamble.

Liverpool is one of those clubs that I feel like we just match up with poorly. Their fullbacks are just so much better than ours, and their wide attackers would be enough of a hassle without their fullbacks overlapping constantly. We need work rate and counter-attacking ability. It's why I'd start Kane, as he can play that killer ball to release a Son/Moura on the counter. Eriksen hasn't been consistent enough with it lately, and while I wouldn't bench him, I'd likely sacrifice Dele. Such a tough choice for Poch...

Put Son and Moura on the full backs Kane can occupy the two centre backs Trips and Rose tuck in on Salah and Mane Verts and Toby hold the middle, Sissoko putting out fires everywhere. Dele and Christen to have the freedom to play in between the lines and get on the ball and the cup is ours. I have no idea what I’ve just said but it sounds good.

I'm sure he will start if he resumes training beforehand. Before Burnley he only resumed full training for a couple of days I think and ended up starting and playing the whole 90.
