It is strange that we would rather get nobody than loan this guy. Even if we loan Janssen or Nkoudou out and get this guy in. He's not going to offer any less than those 2 and could surprise us.

I have so many feelings going round my head at the moment, I really don't know what to think about this.
Anger, at the fact we are in desperate need of boosting the squad and can't seem to find a player that fits the profile of someone poch wants and we can afford.
Worry, that after so much good work our season is teetering on the edge. Anymore injuries (esp to son or winks) could see us in serious problems in relation to a top 4 finish.
Disappointment, that we had such a great opportunity. With a little investment over the summer we would have had the cover we'd needed to get us through this tough period and potentially stay in two very winnable cups.
Pride, despite the small investment compared to other clubs and smaller wage budget we have experienced the most successful periods in decade while going through huge upheaval over moving in to what is going to be one of the best sports stadiums in the world. This is thanks to some truly wonderful players, an amazing manager and a very financially savy chairman. And our injuries I'm sure are a result of our success to an extent, so many players playing so deep in to the WC.
Concern, about the future we have an incredible squad of players but it does have holes that badly need filling and, at present, we don't look capable of doing that. In the summer our manager is likley to be targeted by other clubs, and 2 of our best players are entering that last year of their contact. One of which will be extremely hard to replace.
Confusion, and I think this is the over riding emotion, that I don't understand what's going on. Do we have money? If we do why can't we seem to attract any player that poch thinks will improve the squad? Is DL the problem? Has poch developed AVB syndrome? I have no idea what's going on.

One thing is for sure the next 8 months are HUGE for this football club.

I would say first the next 15 games are crucial. Failing to finish in the top 4 after going through two transfer windows without recruiting one single player would be a disaster and a gamble that has failed miserably.

We have a fantastic new stadium and likely that we won’t start playing in until next season. Going into that with no champions league football and instead the crappy Thursday night cup would be pretty depressing and if we are not careful that is exactly what will happen.

After exiting two cup competitions last week we have 3 very winnable home games that we must take maximum points from. After that we have some really tough league games and Dortmund of course in the champions league.

We still have so much to play for and a a decent league position, not buying a single player again is utter madness

It's really weird that they are only looking for a short term loan though.
Not really, probably because they need to reassess their options in the summer, when they know whether they got relegated from Ligue 1 in the end or not.

So they need Tielemans next season, but not this one where they are fighting relegation?

if Pochettino doesn’t want Tielemans it is absurd for people to criticise him for not signing him.

20m is still a lot of money for Spurs and if he has his eye on another player he should wait.

We either want him to manage us or we don’t.

I agree but the thing is people are feeling a certain way based off assumptions. We don't know the reasoning behind not attaining the player or if anyone at Spurs is even at any fault. It's easy to say why didn't we get this player or that player or how come this team signed him and we didn't but there are many variables and potential reasons as to why we haven't, if even interested.

I'm frustrated at not signing anyone too and at least from the outside it does look as if we're incompetent in this department but it's just a bit annoying to see people criticising Pochettino for instance for deciding not to go for him when we're just basing judgements off of paper talk and twitter. I share the feelings of anger, I'm just not gonna direct it at someone (like Pochettino in this case) when we don't even know the details.

Spot on.

People get into a frenzy about us making a signing, any signing. Then those same people will moan when the player flops and we're lumbered with him.

If Poch doesn't rate the player, then we have to trust his decision. At the end of the day he got us into this position so he's made more good decisions than bad.

He has been very disappointing for them so far, and they probably need experienced heads in, more than promising players, yet to reach their potential.

Who signed Tielemans? Was it Jardim or Henry?

Jardim.

Still makes no sense. Either sell him for money if he isn't good enough or keep him for battling relegation. You mean that they are trying to hold on to him and hope that his value goes up for the summer?

... Clearly a mistake then, could have sworn I read that there were links to Silva and Jardim from the past ... Perhaps it's just a case that he wants an old head out there as they try and make sure they don't get relegated.

Either way, we ain't in for Youri, time to accept this window is another fart in a colander moment.

£20m may be a "lot" of money for Spurs but it seems to be a piss in the ocean for most other PL clubs.

This article from September explains Monaco's situation pretty well.

EDIT - https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ndow-ligue-1-atletico-madrid-champions-league

They've been buying the best prospects off of a spreadsheet and taking their model to extremes, resulting in an unbalanced and leaderless dressing room.

Much like our 2 points 8 games season. Since then things have only gotten worse.

They need short term fix of experience in the dressing room, hence Fabregas and Silva.

Why sell Tielemans for a smaller fee if they don't need to? If he's the key to getting Silva, and he's not going to play, it makes sense.

Yeah and it's taken us 25 years to get to regular champions league regulars. If any business doesnt invest and move with the market it operates in it doesnt take long to fall behind its competitors. If we fail to qualify for it this season that is huge considering the parameters we are working in, we have a new stadium costing the best part of a billion that needs a sponsor and a manager and players that are and will be in high demand.

The next 8 months are huge for our club and to think anything different is niave
