Yes we bought the Double same as other clubs today buying trophies.
One big difference, they were all British players, not the pick of the world's elite like it is today. 3 Scots, 1 Welshman, 1 N. Irishman and the rest English.

Jesus we have had some worldies play for our club over the years.
We haven't won much over the years, certainly two Carling Cups in recent memory for this great club isn't enough. But we always get plenty of ups and down and bucket loads of excitement.

Yes still bought it though. Doesn't matter where the players are from and it wasn't usual to have so many players from around Britain in an English team. Not as many as we had at least. We had three Welsh at times as well as the Scots and Northern Irish. The other clubs didn't have any of the Worlds elite either.
The fees for Jones, Mackay, White, Brown, Blanchflower were all high for the times.
Then 99999 for Jimmy Greaves was a humungous fee.

A good proportion of this team were Scots, signed from other clubs. But so what, the financial growth that allowed that to happen was organic and a result of what had already happened on the pitch.

I'm not sure my body will ever be able to produce goosebumps again after watching that. Absolutely beautifully made. Loved every single waking second of it.
Sat and watched it at my desk at work and had to stop myself from shedding a tear at times in case someone saw me. Should've watching it at home and blubbed like a baby.
I'm so glad I support this club. I dont even really care about how many trophies we've won or any of the bad times. I'm 33 now and I've already been given more than enough joy by Spurs to have me die a happy man.
