4 years is a long time in football. And i would say we're only really seeing the best of Zokora this season.

Comolli disagrees with that assessment of the squad, and claims Redknapp's repeated selection of midfielder Didier Zokora, a player he turned down during his time at Pompey, shows his judgement is not always perfect.

'Not many players in England outside the top four have got to two successive finals,' he said.

'So I think, personally, the quality is there, that's what everyone is saying.

'It happens to everyone. Zokora went on trial at Portsmouth and he turned him down a few years ago, and now he's playing all the games for Spurs. It's a question of timing.'

Obviously Harry had a lot more sense 4 years ago!

Eek Behave!

I appreciate that everyone is entitled to their opinion and there are still many spurs fans that clash when it comes to deciding how good or bad Didier Zokora is.........but as far as I'm concerned, if any of our fans actually spend time watching him from a neutral viewpoint and so not having already decided he sucks......and they still can't see what he brings to the team, then they can't really understand the game of football all that well.

I think what Comolli says about timing is spot on. Some signings don't work out. I think I read that most who work in this business think that normally 1/3 work out. Comolli has a pretty good record then and those which did not work, we got good money for as he says.

We put our players in a mediocre mid league team really early and expect them to perform at the top of their potential. Most let us down in terms of our expectations but they will go on to have decent careers as their potential peaks - not necessarily in our team though.
