No, it means the FA can have another cackle at our predicament.

No, unfortunately I don;t think it does. Considering it is Wed now no way I can see him clear for Sat.

It also was probably a booking too - so we'd have exactly the same situation as Keano. They can't downgrade a red to a yellow - only wipe out a red if it wasn't a booking at all.

So poo-faced bum-cracks.

I thought the idea was the card only counts after the appeal has happened - unless it's rescinded - which it won't be

So we get done by the same rule twice in as many weeks?

Bastards!

Can anyone come up with a reasonable explanation why this fuckwitted rule exists?

I still think we should appeal because it once again highlights what a load of bollocks the rules are.

It would also show how crap the refereeeing was last night. The quarter final of a competition and we get refereeing like that, with cards being thrown around like confetti. Shite.

i thought it an appeal went in then the suspention was then put on hold untill the decision was made to keep the original red card or take it away  if they didnt then players who get cleared could then be missing games for being suspended when they didnt deserve to be

I would have thought a rule like that would be ridiculously abused though, to delay suspensions.

They review it before the suspension is due to start [they've got the time] - I sincerely doubt they'll rush to look at it - and I expect they'll say "tough titties".

that's basically what I thought - hence my thread - I guess we'll know more by tomorrow

not to sound like a bitter spurs fan but we rarely get desicions overturned, i don't know if we appealed mido's against chelsea last year but that should have been rescinded for sure

I'll never forget that mido disgraceful decision - it was one of my rare trips to the Lane these days and Styles ruined a perfectly good game -

I have to admit lately Styles has been okay with us - but at the time it was one in a long line of poor decisions against us - I think the club officially complained about him

I do not know why we're putting in the appeal so soon that they can review it tomorrow and decide to suspend him immediately. Thought clubs have 48 hours to appeal. If that is so, we should have sent in the appeal tomorrow just before 5.00pm so that the earliest they could review it is Monday.

Official Site:

CLUB TO APPEAL ZOKORA RED

The Club can confirm it has submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal to the FA following Didier Zokora's red card for serious foul play.

Didier was sent off in last night's Carling Cup quarter-final win over Manchester City. A Regulatory Commission will consider the claim for wrongful dismissal tomorrow.

Well tomorrow isn't too late for a decision to be made and anulled, but it won't happen.

It will be upheld I have no doubt, I was sure the Keane card would be over turned and it wasnt now i sure this one will leave us another option short for 3 games

dunno why we´re wasting our time with this. no chance whatsoever.

out of interest, why were Fabregas, Eboue and John Terry all not sent off on Sunday if Zokora was yesterday?

That's why if the rule allows, the club should have waited until the last moment to submit the appeal, so that the inevitable unfavourable decision can't be made until after the Arsenal match.

Because FIFA/UEFA wanted to stop the undermining of referees. How laudable. Never mind the fact that they undermine themselves every week.

Bennett and his cohorts managed to upset both sets of fans last night. That really takes some doing. Phil Parry went ballistic again. I just love his rants about officials.
