I wasnt impressed with Zokora's performance, and everytime I see him my hopes for him drop a little more. He is not good enough to be a centre back or a defensive midfielder. He is lacking in both areas, and I remember seeing him play for the Ivory Coast after we had signed him and ebing a bit troubles. He doesnt seem to work in a midfield or defensive two.

He lacks the passing creativity and speed, plus finishing to play as an attacking midfielder, and I still dont think he has the defensive knowledge to be in charge of covering the back 4. The game just seems to pass him by and he doesnt stop or intercept the oppositions passes, nor becomes a third defender.

The one place I can see him succeeding is as a third centre back, being in charge of bringing the ball out of defence and then filling in when we defend.

I think Tainio, O'Hara and Huddlestone are better midfield options.

While I agree with you, he isn't slow dude, far from it.

My point was, not how the player is today and on past performances, but how JR will work his magic on him and bring out the best in whatever position he feels Zokora is best suited to, for all we know he might think hes best suited playing in a more advanced role. All im saying is its intriguing to find out were he sees his best position and to see the difference in the player once JR and GP have worked with him for a period of a couple of weeks to a month. You only have to look at JJ, 4 months ago he was a pile of pants according to some on here, but look at him now, hes getting better, and deserved his england call up IMO.

I think he meant the speed of passes and speed of thought. While a top quality passer of the ball will on need only a glance to see where his team-mates are Zokora needs more time and this tends to slow things down a little especially when he is in midfield.
