In the City game, do you mean his sending off which was ridiculous in my opinion. And in the final do you mean the foul leading to Drogba's goal or the missed chance. The former was stupid but the latter was jusr rather unlucky, and he did play very well throughout the 120 minutes.

I did mean to mention that the red card was a bit harsh and I was referring to giving away the free-kick in the Final.

Didn't they call him the maestro while he was there?

They eat snails and frogs, and spawned de Gaulle and his veto power. So yeah, I rarely pay attention to anything gallic.

Alot of SC member still don't have a clue.

It's the same members that believe "Robbo is still England's No.1"- cant do no wrong, that continually start these silly thread's about Zokora.

Zokora is a very good player as Jol, Ramos have continually picked him. It was just a shame we had a criminally bad goal keeper that put the spot light on our midfield.

Thank God Ramos had the balls to drop Robbo and get Gomas.

I find the Goalkeeper --- Midfield relationship is the criticial reason for this. You are correct double0 in identifying the problem. You are hideously wrong (as ever) though. The lack of any sort of midfield meant our goalkeeper was dealing with things that he shouldn't and guess who starred in that awesome midfield of yours: the one that let's more people in than an Essex girl at 2 o'clock at Faces, smacked off her face. Ah yes Didier Zokora.

I'm also glad that we've signed Steve Gomas.

"hey Stoof, that's brilliant, you should be like a genius or summink".

Hopefully your banal thoughts on Zokora's attributes or otherwise will now be kept to yourself where they will be better appreciated. He may not be the best midfielder in the world but he does a good enough job for us at the moment given that we are not going to attract the next Makelele to our club just yet.

Cheers.

Is Stoof still saying the same things about Zokora?

He may not be the best midfielder in the world indeed. He was replacing one of the hottest English midfield talents. 'Moan moan, he wasn't Carrick's replacement, moan moan' but from my point of view: Carrick out, Zokora in was the only major midfield mover, so if that doesn't constitute a 'replacement' then my definition needs checking, obviously.

Banal is not something I deal in. Do you think if there was any sort of amazingness about the lad then there would be the sort of split there is amongst the fans?

I think he's average. Very average. Would any of last year's Top 6 want him? Unlikely.

Top six...possibly, given that you will include Everton and Villa in that.

Top four, probably not. But then how many players in the entire EPL could get into the top four? Not many.

From our own squad at the moment probably only Berbatov, Keane, King (when fit) and Modric would be courted by the top four (as is currently the case with the first two in fact).

It also strikes me that everyone's opinion of Carrick changed post sale. He wasn't overly appreciated as a "hot talent" whilst he was with us unfortunately. We were hardly singing his name from the stands. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Zokora's pace and mobility is gonna be crucial next season, he will cover the gaps left by Hutton and Bale bombing on and giving us extravagant width. And now that he has a playmaker in Modric to give the ball to, his lack of incisive passing won't be a problem.

Forgetting his lack of passing or shooting skills his inabilty to tackle , position himself intelligently or read the game are slight drawbacks for a wannabee DM.

I think the lad can tackle, he is overzealous, sometimes. I think you will see a different player next year. Ramos will give him a clearly defined role in the team, an its amazing how a simplification of a player's role can lead to improvement in all areas of his game.

He can tackle, he just doesn't do enough of it.

I think he's improved, Ramos obviously thinks he's the best DM option we have, and I'll defend him against the sillier 'criticisms'—but I'll not be happy if we haven't signed someone a good deal better by the start of the season.

The problem with Zokora is he is not the DM we need right know. He performs best when he has another player alongside him, another DM who is more physical. Zokora can the use his superb engine to press the play without worrying about exposing his defence.

In the two man midfield we go with this doesnt work. He is afraid to fully abandon his holding role so ends up not closing the opposition until they have got near our penalty box.

He, like every other spurs midfielder, would benefit form an experienced leader next to them, someone he can take his position from and take orders from. However, if we did get this 'magical' player in and still only play 2 in the centre of midfield, Zokora is not the man I would pick to play with him, and I dont think he is that good that we should reorganise our midfield just for him.

Eto'o put him in his starting XI for players he has played with or against, so I think he is more highly rated than a lot of people think, but I think he is a player for a certain job, and in the fast paced Prem I dont think you can play jobbers from the start consistently.

Zakora would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me. Put a decent midfielder along side him and you'll see him shine. Unfortunatly he was covering for Jenas most of last season while he went missing.

unfortunately zakora doesnt play for spurs i know a player called zokora does though:rofl:
