I think Allen is a decent player £6m ish tops - but a Luka replacement?

Thud is better (when fit).

That's why a deal for Allen for circa £10million represents a sound investment as it leaves us with room to manoeuvre for other deals which across the board should leave us in a healthy position to be competitive on all fronts.

Except he isn't really that good...

There are very few people in world football that could replicate exactly what Modric gives/gave us but in terms of slotting in and trying to replicate his role then Allen is far better suited than the immobile, cumbersome Huddlestone.

Fair play to the Journo he's still sticking to his guns on Lloris, he called it months ago. If it comes off he'll be dinning out for weeks, nah, months in the cyberweb cafe's & bars(y) Hope he's right

Could we not be getting Loris on some form of deal for next season?

I just dont know where this would leave Brad if Lloris came in. Dont see Brad being No2.

Going to Liverpool, isn't he?

Slightly different case IMO. Walcott an active member of the side. Ade had moved on and had openly gone against the Goon fans. Gallas was a free agent. Vieira had also moved on.

Anyway I take your point that Walcott isn't very good and the fact we have Aaron Lennon
Walcott will be a free agent next summer.

Brad has said he'd be happy being no2.

the reason lyon are willing to sell lloris for the right price is that they need the money ... so it doesn't make sense to me that they're planning on spending what they get for him on other players.

So nothing really happening other than that there are some 'possibilities' and some of them are closer than they were the last time they were mentioned (but possibly further than they were the first time they were mentioned).

We are now in the middle of the 'smoke & mirrors' stage. Minds will start to become focused as the season/deadline gets closer and we should then start seeing some fall out. I think our 'meltdown' is going to depend upon a number of chemicals coming together in a chain reaction which is always tricky. Miss out an essential chemical from the mix and you end up with what is known as the Rasiak reaction - more 'just in time' than 'Levy time'.

Better at what though. Better at hitting a long raking diagonal once a game ? yes. Better at playing a high tempo tempo, pressing, passing & moving 90 minutes of football without giving the ball away continually under pressure ? No.

I'll take Allen.
