If BAE was leaving he wouldn't have played yesterday since we have Verty, Rose and Naughton who can all play there.

Been saying this all window and getting shot down for it. So bloody predictable. We spend all window being fed a crock of shit about leandro, llorente, hulk and falcao then at the 11th hour get just adebayor as if we werent going to all along. He's half the player llorente is and will be away at the africa cup of nations. I knew wed do this all along. Every one of our itks, including jj, akqa and potl have been sold a duff line this window:Levy's big summer, two world class strikers, lloris, sahin and moutinho, meltdown... And surprise: adebayor on the cheap and scarce little else.

Calm down dear! It's only August 19th.

I really don't think that JJ has pooh pooh'd this to to honest. He mentioned that Scar IS levy. In the original tweet it said Scar got a lion king too.

Is no one paying attention here.

We need another similar striker to challenge, to compete at least for the title, when Ade goes to ACN, because AVB rotates.

If we are actually looking seriously to challenge, we need ADE we need Llorente AND we need damaio.

Man city - Aguero, tevez, ballotelli, dzeko

Man utd - RVP, Rooney, welbeck, chicarito, berbatov (probably leaving though)

We DO need 3 top top strikers, day Ade got injured we f'd.

So in answer to the question, why would we need another beanpole no.9?

BECAUSE WE DO!!!!!!!

On JJ's point, I would suggest that we do need two physical options upfront, rather than Defoe. So now Adebayor is onboard, however not much chance of Llorente too, he's too similar, in terms of stature, age etc, however Damaio is next generation. AVB's system requires someone capable of holding the ball up, no point only having one player in the squad capable of that, bit short sighted. As I said, I can see there's no point signing two players of a similar age, more likely one older one younger.
I kind of wonder if the public Llorente chat was a tactical ploy to force Ade to pull his finger out for fear of us having moved on.
Ade in, LD next, Defoe to move on. Kane third choice.
Technically someone like Remy could provide the same role whilst also being a wide forward if required, but I thought he'd been ruled out.

Leandro is still a possibility w/ a couple weeks left in the window. Llorente, Hulk, and Falcao were pipe dreams and never going to happen and I don't think any of the top ITK (JJ, POTL, etc.) ever implied that. A lot of fans need to do a better job of filtering through the ITK and understand what is plausible and what is absolute BS. That would avoid being let down and meltdowns like yours above.

s
JJ's latest tweet smacks of Sturridge to me, goals from side - and somebody who can play through the middle who isn't a target man as such.

I can see us going for him too. On the bench today. just cant see them dealing with us after last summer

Half the player? Come on that's an exaggeration. Llorente is an excellent player no doubt and would probably do very well in this League but there would be no guarantee at all that he would do as well all round for us as Adebayor.

Don't think people realise how lucky we are to be signing Adebayor.

That's how I feel too.

We always get linked with sexy signings. And then we end up with the least sexy option available.

Yes, I'm happy Ade is going to come. But still, this window promised so much more.

Shearer was a target man if ever there was one!

I've always thought of a target man as someone Daws would continuously pump the ball up to (e.g. Peter Crouch), who would then hold the ball up and bring others into play.

I'm suspicious that we got a knockback from Llorente or that the fee was too high & that made us conclude the Ade deal.
I think if we'd got Llorente we'd have not signed Ade, but gone for a different type of striker, one who plays on the right.

If you think that we wanted two strikers, I think the options are 1) Llorente/ Sturridge type or 2) Ade/Leandro.
I don't think Llorente & Leandro & ADE will happen since it would probably cost us about 50million Euro & AVB wants to spend on a creative midfielder.

I don't have high hopes of Ade, did well last season but was on loan and had a point to prove. Comes across as a mercenary and it must say something that all his previous clubs in the PL couldn't wait to get rid. Hope I'm proven wrong btw.

wasnt he pretty good at arsenal ?

Yeah Shearer could do that too, but I'd say a target mans main task is to lurk in and around the box sticking away any chance that comes to him, either with his feet or his head.

Leandro fits that mould perfectly. He's slow as shit but if you we play to his strengths he could be excellent, same with Llorente.

I think Ade should realise how lucky he is to have us. Yes he's a quality forward, but not top notch. Last season up to the man city game we were actually having the best title challenge in my lifetime (I'm 38).

We are about the best he could do football wise, after his apparent fuckin about I really think he is lucky to have us.

Great news on Ade, just a shame he hasn't had a pre-season.

Hopefully the other striker is either Leandro or Llorente. I think all 3 are different types of player anyway. They all offer something a little different.

Although Ryan did hint at a striker we haven't been linked with this window so there could be a surprised around the corner.
