From the outside looking in football fans probably rate Defoe but when you watch every game like we do it can be seen that if only we could afford a Suarez or Aguero we would be in serious business !
Although you clearly have a point, Ade missed sitters in the last two matches as has Defoe. So we are creating the type of chances that the strikers should be putting away, unfortunately they just are not.
What we need to stop is Defoe shooting from everywhere, as his inability to see anything but glory and shooting from all angles brings to the end a lot of our very promising play. The same can be said of Bale, but at least Bale puts a high percentage on target where as Defoe puts them in the stands. I'm a little concerned that Walker is shooting too often too. Just look at how frustrated Ade gets when Defoe smashes a shot when there is an easy pass on, I think it says a lot.
I only got round to watching the game on MOTD last night but it confirmed what i saw in the ground- there was no foul on a Reading player for the free kick which led to their goal. In fact it was even clearer than i thought- Naughton got the ball cleanly.
Did anyone else find it irritating that the commentator- John Motson- whimped out of even mentioning that. He said something like there were a couple of players coming in at him or something, rather than saying what he could see with his own eyes- that it was a clean tackle?
Ok it didn't matter in the end but it was still annoying.
I've always hated MOTD commentary.. it's so cringe and forced and the commentators have to pretend they are watching the match for the first time and act surprised when something happens.
