My concern about David Villa is that we wont be able to come up with a good song for him.

Something with the Que sera, sera tune maybe?

When we wanted a new stri-ker
I asked levy, who will he be?
Will he be strong, will he be quick
Here's the name he gave to me

David Villa Villa,
We signed him from Ba, ar-ca,
Sure-ly he'll take us far,
David Villla, Villa

Don't know why people still don't want Villa. I've been sold on the idea since it were first mentioned by ITK.

He's best games IMO were when he was played upfront on his own, which is frankly exactly what we need. He seems to be one of the most clinical solo strikers available, he can hold the ball up brilliantly and has the ability to bring other players into the attack too. Even for only 3 years his impact on our squad and young strikers will last for years.

WHL has excellent training and medical facilities now, and if we're lucky we may just be able to pull 3 good years out of him, with a further 3 or so till retirement just based on excellent fitness training and medical care alone.

We are one of the best clubs he could spend his last years at and I could see 15-20 goals a season.

Even if we get him we still need another striker we need more goals.

Well Villa is also probably past his prime but we are talking about fucking David Villa. Villa at 50% is a better player than Parker in his prime.

Illogical comparison to make considering the positions and roles of the respective players.

Agreed, My point being if we're signing a budget striker this window he's the only one worth taking a punt on. ( I'm talking a transfer fee of lower than 10 million pounds not incl. wages )

I could live with Villa, Ade and Defoe as the three attacking options for next season. Would rather get shot of one of the latter two and get in someone younger like PEA, but hoping some genuine competition and Villa's class would rub off on the other two.

So maybe this

------------Lloris-------------------
Walker-Dawson-Vertonghen-BAE
Lennon-Sandro-Dembele-Bale
--------Parker-Villa----------------

?

Obviously somebody was rather daft and thought I really meant Parker and Villa to be paired up. To their defense, I am the victim of a vicious attack on my tongue by lead paint when I was a wee lad so it is feasible that I would come up with this tactical fubar in earnest.

"oooh, wow, so if I don't shoot at the keeper I will score more goals!"

I'm not sure I could. Villa was out for ages with a bad injury and if he was to get injured again we'd be left with just Ade and Defoe again. Of course, just having an inform Defoe and Adebayor wouldn't be bad but we took the risk in presumably assuming that would be the case last season and them not performing to a good standard was definitely one of the main factors in us coming up short.

The way I see it and based on ITK is that we'll go for Villa regardless. Once we get him, we'll sit tight and wait until mid August before pushing for a 2nd new striker if we can get someone. I'd see us go for either Soldado or Leandro and if either happens, brilliant, but if not we work with Ade, Defoe and Villa going into the season.

Soldado or Villa? Do we really need to debate the choice? It's almost incomprehensible to think we might get either! I really don't care which just make it so!

Have to disagree regarding living with those 3 we need to lose 1 of them I would let defoe go personaly and bring in the best that we could afford as the rest will strengthen and we need to keep pace.

Maybe that is perhaps the plan with the last day offer for Leandro?? Im sure if it were to happen we would have a few last breath offers for Defoe or something kind of lined up!! ( Or not!)
