It's incredible how much players seem to be interested in playing for AVB. Not quite the dickhead that Chelsea made him out to be.

The signings of Paulinho and Villa really excite me. I think the fact that we are keeping Bale, hopefully that's the case, shows massive ambition to potential new recruits...that's bound to be very influential, ditto AVB.

This could be our most exciting season yet when you factor in the benefits of how much AVB will have learned from an already impressive debut season.

I'm honestly really torn on my expectations for the club in 2013/14. Should we land Paulinho, Villa and maybe an out-and-out striker to lead the line, I'm not sure if us just going for 4th is enough.

I honestly think, with our strength in midfield and defense, we could be really big competitors in not only the league, but also across multiple cup competitions.

I really think we will land a trophy this season.

I always thought that Chelsea's squad had too many big egos to handle and really they only wanted to play for Mourinho. AVB was more suited to a young team, who he can teach and mold into a winning side. Us and him are a perfect fit. You can already see the influence he had on Bale last season, if he can repeat that with others, who knows what we're going to be achieving in the future. Also, he's still in his thirties. He could be our 'Fergie'in that he may be around for a long, long time.

All though we all obviously enjoyed it at the time 2 years ago, I think we all knew deep down who the real villans and dickheads of that fiasco were.

With managers changing at the top, it'll be very tight. This needs to be the year someone else wins the league. Will be open from top to bottom.

Surely DL wouldn't promise Paulinho and Villa we're keeping Bale and then sell him after we've signed them! :cautious:

Agreed, also throw into the mix the fact that 3 of the top 4 have new managers and next season could be a very interesting one.

All sounds nice but one thing scares me a bit:

IF we land 2 strikers, Paulinho and maybe a wide forward, what happens to the Sig and Townsend?

Exciting times certainly but we'll still need a lot of work on our strength in depth. City, United and Chelsea have an alarming number of options even if their top players are out, and we aren't really near them in that regard at the moment.

But Paulinho and Villa would be a bloody good start.

With how many competitions we will be in, I'd imagine they will get substantial time as wide-forwards. Townsend fits well behind Bale in a 4-3-3, Siggy behind hopefully Villa on the left.

I'm more curious as to what happens to Lennon. He's obviously a much better fit for the 4-2-3-1 then the 4-3-3. However, Varela, despite scoring 10 goals for AVB's Porto, isn't what I would call a prolific scorer and he put together a nice season as a right-footed LW for AVB.

Depends who we sign. If it's Villa, Damiao, Paulinho, Bernard then i'll kindly offer to drive Townsend and Sig to there next clubs.

But I actually like Sig and hope he gets a good run of games this season.

They improve or ship-out basically. No room for sentimentality.

Personally I don't think Townsend is up to it, whereas I think Siggy is a really good player and can be an important part of the squad, but either way if we bring players in then the existing players will have to work for their place which is no bad thing.

I was pretty happy with Sig in the second half of the season. Sometimes players need some time. I think he got it. I fear we would rather ship him first than Dempsey.

And I just bought my Sig shirt

That's a bit like saying "if I win the lottery, what happens to the £3,000 I had saved up".

Its still a good thing and still helps, its just not quite as important.
