We're in a different place to five years ago so the reference to Ramos is defunct but the calibre of player we are genuinely linked to is reassuringly high now.

We are past those transition seasons thankfully so we can build upon solid foundations and add star quality to an already multi talented bunch.
I agree and the point that we are one of the attractive clubs is partly I think because of the AVB effect, I can't see any of these sorts even thinking of joining were it not for him mainly but also the Bale and new training complex factors.

Save Dave for Henrik Mkhitaryan

If we sign this guy we could make him Henry McTarian and pronounce his name in a heavy Scottish accent.

But anyway, I didn't mean for my comment to open the spam gate when we've had some good ITK today

Wtf? The fact players seem to be interested to play for AVB, players that we wouldn't normally get a sniff at. You think Villa or Paulinho would contemplate spurs with Harry around?
I take it back lol

I think it was pertinent what was said before in that Villa wanted assurances that AVB and Bale were staying before potentially committing himself to the cause.

What player wouldn't want to ply their trade alongside a genuine world class footballer in Gareth Bale under the stewardship of a progressive young and already successful manager - quality attracts quality and we haven't had it this good in a bloody long time!

I expect that someone has already pointed this out, but can't be bothered to search the whole thread.

George Duke made an album called "A Brazilian Love Affair".

A good point with the training complex and another big draw to potential recruits.

I didn't see that about Villa but it makes sense and agreed, must be quite a prospect lining up next to Bale under a progressive young coach! I'm always optimistic but we do seem to have it good right now!

Not that different, and the claim is that players are interested in joining because of the manager, not the club. AVB is undoubtedly well thought-of and has excellent connections, but I venture to doubt he's the sole or even the main reason we're an attractive proposition.

One hopes we're past those transition seasons, but given Levy's record I wouldn't be wholly confident.

It was discussed on page 25 and Brazilian Love Affair was indeed the answer to the cryptic. I think it was just more confirmation of Paulinho.

Not the sole reason but a hell of a help. I can't blame you for the slight pessimism though, it's us Spurs fans defence mechanism ;-)

just noticed we are close to making key signings early for the first time in a while but it means fuck all as they wont join the squad anyway

Scene,
Mr. Beats is riding first class back from Juba in South Sudan, where he has just foiled a Sudanese plot to overthrow their new neighbors. As he sips his gin and tonic, he clicks on the screen of his in-seat tele to watch the BBC.

Suddenly the screen changes to static and a mysterious man appears.

MM: Good morning, Mr. Beats. The man you're about to see is Archibald & Crooks

Mr. Beats: Wow that is a lot of dildos

MM: The dildos aren't important, what is.....

Mr. Beats: Must be a couple thousand. It's a fairly disturbing amount of dildos. (Downs Gin and Tonic in gulp). I mean I've had sex on the underside of a moving train with dead Russian spy and even this makes me a little nauseous

MM: What?

Mr. Beats: Technically it's not necrophilia if she said yes right before she died.

MM: I want you to see the company therapist when you get back

Mr. Beats: For the Dildos? I don't think you can unfry those chips.

MM: FORGET ABOUT THE DILDOS!

Mr. Beats: I'll try (orders 3 more gin and tonics)

MM: This man runs a site full of the most dangerous kind of people. Happy people.

Mr. Beats: Fucking hell. First the dildos and now this. This is going to be difficult.

MM: "Difficult" would be a walk in the park. This will be "impossible"

Mr. Beats: I would imagine that's copyrighted.

MM: Fine. A mission inconceivable?

Mr. Beats: Treading a little bit into another movie with that, but it'll work

MM: Your mission Mr. Beats, should you choose to accept it... these nefarious anarchists are planning a parade. A parade that may well set back Spurs supporters 40 years with it's focus on hope and it's thread of joy. You will take the device under your chair and disseminate its contents at said site in order to end this evil plot.

Mr. Beats: What is in it?

MM: It's a substance we in the clandestine services call piss

Mr. Beats: I'm in

MM: This message will self destruct in 3 seconds

Mr Beats: I expected some kind of smoke or bang.

MM: Indeed. Well post 911, we just expected you to turn off the screen and imagine the smoke. Good day Mr. Beats.

I'm not being pessimistic, just pointing out that we've been here before.
