Touring training grounds, our or others, is news to me. Without an agreement, in principle at least, with the player's club being in place isn't that kind of er, um totally against regulations?

When an expensive player requests a transfer the deal stretches out for most of the window (unless a team that doesn't care about money are involved). Everyone now knows he wants to leave and so the sellers will try to maintain a strong stance (as villa have) and say he's only for sale at price X and the buyers will lay down an offer and say we'd be willing to pay price Y. Most teams will not want a publicly unhappy player to stay and it's very rarely they do (Modric comes to mind but that's because Chelsea were the only team in for him then). Usually in the last few days of the window X and Y will get closer such as the Modric to Real deal and the Berba to United deal.

If we sign him and he has another good season, will he not pull the same stunt again to get a move to an even bigger club? Don't really want a guy with this lack of loyalty at Spurs to be honest.

Its Chelsea though, the whole club is a nonsense.

Could maybe see them with Lukaku, Benteke, Torres and then sell Ba. Dont think any of the players would be overly happy with that arrangement though, well apart from Ba.

Yeah but it's easy enough to check. If nothing else, what a cack-handed manner to do it in. Then there's the general disgust I'd feel towards my own club. Naturally a club will want to know if a player is even interested in moving before wasting time and resources in preparing and tabling a bid for a player. Players have more than enough personal intermediaries these days though.

A blatant disregard shown to another club in this manner is just wrong. It's been shown to us enough times after all.

I hope whoever started the rumour was just stirring.

Lambert obviously doesn't mind at all which tells me Benteke told him he wanted to go and then said he's heading to london to check out the toilets at hotspur way - apparently they're a-mazing - and then go and see maureen for a serious chat about moving to chelsea.

I agree, I was being sarcastic but football in general doesn't seem to have a consistent set of standards. I actually hope we sign him and have done things correctly. After all the problems with Berbatov, Keane and Modric in recent seasons I would be disappointed if we hadn't played it fair.

It's easier to justify a move from Villa to Spurs than it is from Spurs to another team. He'd have to go to Bayern Munich, Madrid or Barcelona, I don't see him desperate to move from us to Man City. I'm sure he'd move on in time though so if we bid £20m for him and we sold him on for £30m to Madrid that would be amazing for us. In fact, it could be a bargaining chip. Chelsea wouldn't be happy if he wanted to move to Madrid, say, so if he sees them as the ultimate destination it'd make more sense to use us as a stepping stone. I'd happily take a player for two seasons that makes us a £10m profit and plays well enough to be bought by one of the biggest clubs in the world

Oh absolutely. I understood your sarcasm and agree with you. I really hope the rumour is rubbish or well, we'll have no leg to stand on in the future. RM manoeuvrings over Bale in the future will be fair game etc.
