Didn't want to post my sources info which may panic people but I told the mods last week; Cisse was being looked at as our contingent plan for Benteke... Now that's off.
All football clubs are privately owned. What differentiates them are a vast number of variables, one of which is the level of owner investment. I'm one of those who are pleased that we aren't owned by somebody who throws billions at us; I consider it to be cheating - and winning in that way would, for me, be a phyrric victory. I'm proud of where we are compared to the mega-rich Chelsea and City, and want to beat them by continuing to grow organically. It will make the victory all the sweeter.
As for the 'agency' that we have as fans, we can ultimately vote with our feet. If we stopped going to games and stopped buying merchandise, then ENIC would probably sell the club so quickly that it would make your head spin. If we don't do that then we do our job, what every supporter should: support the team. By all means piss and moan on a web forum, but get behind the team at the ground. Congratulations on your dedication in commuting half-way around the world to watch the team: it's dedication like yours that makes the club what it is. You seem to think that it should enfranchise you in some way; I don't see why. It's your choice to live so far from the club that you support.
If you want success at all costs and would be happy to support a club that buys it with a rich owner's money, then you have plenty to choose from.

good lord, I really hope that means Benteke and Cisse are both off because we have something better in the works. Replacing Ade and bringing in Cisse or Remy would be outrageous.
I totally agree... Cisse was seemingly was a one hit wonder.
With Remy I wouldn't be too disappointed if he was brought in as squad depth for up-front and wide forward cover but not first team.
As I said almost exactly this time last week. We aren't going to sign anyone until late in the transfer window. I believe Einstein is attributed with the observation that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result or words t that effect. We are stuck in a loop.
I for one wouldn't like a a billionaire take over. Like spud said it takes away the sense of achievement if we end up like city and Chelsea in buying success rather than doing a man utd and building our success through income generated by outselves. The wait for success (and I'm sure most spurs fans feel a positive vibe with AVB at the helm and that we will taste success sooner rather than later) will be all the more worthwhile.

Having AVB at the helm really raises our standard as a club and positions us to achieve great things. How have we demonstrated the importance of that through our dealings in the transfer market?
Well a good manager gets the best out of players. Take last season for example. Even though it was a transition season for spurs converting from a 442 to a 433, even though we didn't have kaboul in defence or sandro for half a season. Even though our strikers were shite all season, we got a record haul of 72 points and missed top 4 by a single point. i think that's evidence in itself that AVB can really take us forward. So it's not all about transfers. Yes we need a striker and another wing forward that's literally all we need
When do we ever really pay over the odds?
It was win win for Benteke though, it was always going to be. If we didn't meet their valuation he new he would get offered more money, of course he did.
Still think its a gamble to not do anything about a striker though. Great if Adebayor is performing like he did in his first season, not so great if its like last. And what happens if Bale picks up a serious injury in this scenario. Where we getting our goals from if Adebayor is inconsistent? Doesn't bear thinking about Defoe running the show and going through a baron spell to boot.
If people think getting a striker is hard now, imagine how difficult it will be next summer without AVB or Bale. We need to act fast.
serious?
lol
we just finished with record points ever, we just broke our transfer record and signed an international midfielder, we have strengthened and have around seven weeks left of the window to address the striker problem,
united and Arsenal are struggling to buy players, liverpool are buying average players, City and Chelsea can throw money around which they are doing on good to average players.
yes we didn't get Benteke, his agent must have got him a nice juicy payrise but guys ffs chill out a bit, go watch some porn and cheer yourselves up.
we have a while left of the window and the club are trying to address the striker issue, Adebayor can't be anywhere near as bad as last season,
oh and for the record pre season means fuck all, it's a training game
Training game ? when was the last time we won a game more than 3-0 with opposition having all 11 men on field? 2 years ago...
When was the last time we won away from home in Europe mainland ? AC Milan 0-1
When was the last time we won a penalty in league ? You guessed it right ...2011/12
Everyone who follows the league knows we need a Striker. Every fan of Tottenham knows we need a striker. Every one knows that AVB went into his his first pre-season with no fit striker.
Every radio, every TV if they talk about Spurs - 'They need a striker'....
Yes the window is long and will go till sep 1. But what's the point if we can't get a fwd for our coach to work with.
Why is it that we just don't prioritize a forward signing over a midfielder ?
From all the feedback I see from yesterday game, Ade didnt try hard enough ? Are you happy ?
I like Ade, but if he cant give 100% even if its a preseason game want him gone. But the sad reality is 50% Ade looks better than 100% Defoe
Every hawk & vulture is circling lane after AVB & Bale - I hope we do something quicker.
I am sure (or I hope) we will sign a striker - I am not faulting ITKs here - they reveal what they hear. But if we are serious about top4 or serious about having an ounce of ambition towards title, Levy & board - better act fast to atleast give a chance to AVB & his staff.
Fuck me not a ball kicked in anger this season and already we're looking forward with gusto to next off-season. I bet your missus thinks your a miserable git................
End of the day we could have Raul Fox up front and Mido in defence for all I care; I'm Spurs through and through and whether we finished 15th or 2nd nothing will change that.
