This thread has turned to shit recently! It's the ITK thread. Not made up stuff from newspapers thread. Fuck of to the bale thread if you want to chat and say the same things over and over again, it's boring. Jesus there must be 5 posts almost identical on each page. Why post something if someone has written it 30 times? That's what the agree button is there for. Jesus. Fuck Madrid. They are all talk.

But we have itk about bale.

One of the reasons we should never sell him to another domestic club - out of sight, out of mind etc.

Yep. The only consolation I'll take from selling him to Madrid is I won't have to watch him tearing up the PL for someone else.

In relation to this from wiki:
The paper (Marca) had been involved in an ongoing dispute with Sir Alex Ferguson since the summer of 2008 when he accused MARCA of being "...a vehicle to unsettle players" on behalf of Real Madrid.

...Whilst Ferguson himself was using Steve Curry in the mail to unsettle his own targets.

Hypocrisy of the highest order!

Man Citeh had also hit their stride, won the PL title and yet couldn't get out of the CL group stages. I mean just how much of a comparison do you want to actually make with what Spurs achieved that season, none?

I'm genuinely not sure what your point is. Are you trying to say that Man City 2009-10 were as strong as Man City over the past two seasons?

Keep it brief because I'm not sure that this conversation really belongs on this thread!

Might sound harsh, but the day he leaves Tottenham, although I will look back on his career here with fondness and be thankful for the massive fee, I will give precisely zero fucks as to whether or not he becomes the new Kaka, Pele or Gary Doherty.

I've always wished the best for and taken interest in the careers of former Spurs heroes - provided that they left in the right manner; that they remain ever respectful towards and fond of Spurs; and that they didn't sign for a club that I detest.

That's fair enough, after all it's only football, but in the context of Spurs i'll be interested in who takes his place, if they are any good and how well they might do. I am not particularly aware of the current whereabouts of 90% of our former players & nor do I care.

Agreed with you about the majority.

But the really special ones........Gazza, Chrissy Waddle, Jurgen, Daveed etc.....followed them with interest.

You have much to learn about marketing and the commercial element of football. Front cover of an EA game, Times Square, face of TV, 1.5 billion audience in 2 of the worlds fastest growing economies. Value on the pitch at this level is almost secondary.

Why thank you for the condescending reply, I can only assume you are referring to my comparison of bales value to that of ronaldo. I still argue even on a marketing level that ronaldo has greater value than bale. The EA game is a red herring as that isn't generating direct cash for spurs and EA have different covers for different regions anyway so not global in its awareness. The poster in time square was advertising the football coverage on tv and I'm not sure that will increase audiences significantly or point them to spurs. My brother lives out in the USA and watched all bar 2 games (including Europe) on tv - the coverage is already greater than in the UK and the money from tv doesn't go to the prem teams anyway as it is from a much smaller rights package than that of domestic coverage. My point I believe still stands that £150m for a footballer who isn't Messi, is beyond realistic values, marketing included. But then what do I know being a stupid little kid...

I thought that the thread started as a result of ITK?

Please post your agenda in future under "Thought Police" then we can all filter our posts to suit.

Thanking you in advance.

Pleat talking sense as per usual. He may get laughed at for getting a couple of names wrong but he knows more about the game than a lot of people.

Thanks for posting.

I'd be very surprised if he knew all the ins and outs that Levy would be considering in all this. The wider implications for the Club, and particularly where we are as a Club now and what we are planning to do, of all this will be vast and I would say very few people will have an idea of the extent to all the things Levy has to weigh up on something like this.

Most people are just guessing IMO.

Yeah I know that mate. He'll know more than most - but over something like this, I think he's just offering an opinion.

There is so much to consider in all this. Bale's commercial wealth, the extent that could grow and the monetary benefits for us, stadium planning, naming rights....the list goes on and on.

Only Levy and a very small team around him will have an idea of his truth worth to us IMO. It'll be measured against so many things going on at the moment for us. The opportunity cost of this, the opportunity cost of that etc...

Over on the Soldado thread a new poster called 'Informative' has suggested Soldado will arrive at 1pm tomorrow.
He also shares a birthday with Joe Lewis, so is either:

a) Joe Lewis
b) not Joe Lewis
