I think the Bale transfer saga will take a similar course to the Modric transfer saga. Levy will want to prise one more year out of him (in which time he'll be hoping we finish top 4 or higher and convince him to stay), but he'll know that next Summer it'll be time to sell.

To be honest I'd be fine with that approach. I think with one more year of Bale and a striker or two then we could really push the teams at the top and that may convince Bale to stay. If he doesn't then we sell him for 80m+ next year.

You should see Marca this morning...."Bale Imminent"....

I think what will happen next is there will be quotes from Bale wanting to leave. For the good of his career etc. Then quotes from the club saying he's not for sale. Then it will down to whether Bale will do what Madrid want, go on strike etc. All down to him how ugly this gets basically.

On Soldado, is it possible we would get the medical sorted over there or do we always do them here? It sounds as though everything is agreed but the money transfer is holding it up from the ITK but surely we would not be transferring any money until he's passed a medical? Is this deal perhaps less advanced than we think or is it likely that the medical is already sorted?

Some Spanish correspondent (Peter Jenson?) on TalkSport right now.........
Latest from Spain is that the bale move is imminent and that Bale may join them oon their pre-season tour of LA.
Levy has flown from LA to London today for talks with Bale.

Spanish seem to think this is when rather than if now.

Really hope Bale's heads not been turned.

Edit: Journo also states that Soldada should be completed later this week and many Madrid fans are not too happy with the thought of Bale signing - he plays in same poistion as Ronaldo and the don't see the sense
So Levy was in Honk Kong, now in LA and now he's heading back to London?

...and we then have a year to work on replacements so we won't be left up shit creek.

Well, he'd need to head here anyway and i'd think we'd prefer the medical to be here. I assume we'd announce the deal subject to a medical and it's been previously said they need the money by Friday.

As others have said, its all taken from the front page and inside spread of Marca..."Levys obsession of making Bale the most expensive player in the world" or words to that effect....

Whatever and whenever happens with Bale, I hope we screw them for every penny they dont have....

I don't see why we can't just calmly say to them: Ok, we'll deal with you. But we want ALL the money upfront as with the Ronaldo deal. Oh, what's that? You're skint? Bugger off then!

Today is Soldado day. I've decided. I can take no more waiting.:notworthy:

NB. Kindly pay the outstanding £20 million for Modric as soon as possible. No more "on the drip" your credit
isn't good anymore.

I think we will see soldado as a spurs player this week, all signs point to the deal being done, the right noises now coming out of all media outlets, the fact baldini and levy are elsewhere, not working on this any longer to me shows the deal is complete, perhaps with lawyers or solicitors for the formal part, I will be extremely pleased with soldado as our 9, and I think his price as quoted is relative to his record although am sure levy will screw the Spanish down on this one and add Ons will play a significant part. On another note, I am very pessimistic in terms of bale being with us next year, the campaign is picking up pace now through media outlets both Spanish and uk, he didn't kick a ball in HK and that is telling, and spurs have shown they will sell at the right price, I sincerely hope to see him for another season but have a feeling this one will be decided by money men not football men and that although in denial, the clues and signs point to transfer, I hope I am wrong, not ITK just opinion

Ideally we want a young replacement for Bale in this window so he has at least a season in the team before we sell Bale.

Hope we complete the signing today and get him to the trainin ground. I am bit concerned with lack of preseason fitness/games for number of key players - Jan, Paulinho, Soldado :))), Holtby, Bale, Sandro, Kaboul, Dembele.....

You realise he was injured, right? Has a 'strained buttock'! (That will never stop being hilarious)

I am not too bothered about Soldado training

For all we know he is probably doing a bit of running and stretching exercises, highly unlikely he will be taking part in physical contact activities

No it's not. It's up to Levy.
