a 4-4-2 when you've got Aguero, Negredo, Nasri and Silva in it isn't this.
Exactly, it's a 4-4-2 only in name, but the midfield is so fluid due to intelligent players like Nasri and Silva knowing how to link play and find space.

Not just leg it full speed down the line and launch the ball into the area to no one in particular.

oh and CM 2 for Dembele and Siggy read Yaya Toure and Fernandinho...

Hahaha, after all we've just been through with AVB now the problem is that the team isn't defensive enough? You have to laugh at how predictable this all is.

Whats everyone upset about? I like the team...lots of injuries at the back so best he can field. Fancy Sig to score. Erikson has been injured for christ sake.

Bullshit. Paulinho gets in the Brazil starting lineup over absolute quality players and has been an almost an ever present for us as he is a quality player. Let's not start making out he is the equivalent of Andy Reid.

Paulinho is half the player Andy Reid was. Then again, most players are.

Man city have played a 4-4-2 (ish at least) most matches this season, scored 47 and conceeded 18 in 16 games... it's not entirely dead as a formation yet. You need the right personnel though...

City have Aguero.. we have Defoe. Don't make me continue.

Shocked as the youth team never play 442, I suspect it is more 4231

I'm trying to hold my tongue...that lineup is virtually the same as my piss take line up when sherwood was announced

Trying not to take sherwoods bait...Ill just pretend this is his cup side, for a cup he doesn't care about so played a second string

Yes that's it, his second string cup side :headphone:

Jesus Christ this appointment best be only for this game.

Why play 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and progressive football with the youth team then resort to dinosaur tactics when you get a shot at impressing in a major role?

The mind boggles it really does.

I'm all up for refreshing change (I.e Ade back) but Siggy in a midfield 2? Fuck off.

For the life of me I don't get this lineup. I've been positive about Sherwood based on what I've seen from the u21 and youth teams... Then he goes on and decides on 442 with 2 out and out wingers, and to top it off Sig as part of the midfield 2???? I'm fucking baffled right now. I've never seen any of our youth teams play 442 with such a soft centre before so I don't understand how the 3 amigos have arrived at this lineup. Sort it OUT Tim please!!!

Embarrassing, How the fuck do we help settle out record transfer signing, if we don't fucking play him.
I don't care if he has had a couple of mares, dropping him constantly after disappointing games is going to do wonders for his confidence.

Was my initial thought but I'm going to wait until the next prem game before spouting off. Maybe Sherwood rates the likes of Erikson, Lamela and Holtby so much he doesn't want to waste them in the league cup when we very desperately need a good run in the prem

I'm not saying he's a bad player. But frustrates me, very one paced, and looks tired of late. Looks great for Brazil and with a season in the Prem under his belt, will be a major player for us.
