I don't like the formation or players, BUT... it does say to me priority is League and I am fine with that, so in retrospect, it doesn't matter who plays tonight.

This is a big match, a quarterfinal cup tie with a chance to win a trophy, at home against a side that humiliated us, yet we leave Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela, and Holtby out? Where's the creativity going to come from?
Disgusting now you've put it like that.

Probably our best chance at silverware this season and we've got a bloke at the helm who has decided to play a striker with no match fitness. A slow, physically weak guy in a midfield two. Oh and Jermain Defoe. This isn't the time for experimental or risky selections.

Pretty livid, this will be Sherwood's first impression on most fans today as a manager and this is his answer?

Doesn't exactly feel you with confidence if he is going to be here for any longer than this week.

No Soldado, Holtby, Eriksen, Lamela?

Who needs any kind of creativity in the team? That line up is thoroughly meh. But oh well, we'll see what happens.

Just a pity Dawson is suspended and we can't really play it old-style with his long diagonals to the wings.

You can almost see Tim doing his best Mike Bassett impersonation we'll be playing "Four Four fucking two".

Im going to see how the game pans out before I decide we've made a massive fuck up.

I dont think its really very bad at all and it is only the Carling Cup, its not like we are expected to unveil our new preferred first team.

I reckon we will give them a fucking hiding personally. Lots of players who know what it means to play west ham, and how much we owe them

Why do I have the feeling Mr Levy picked this team? Anyway it looks like it's death or glory tactics. COYS!

Presumably Lamela is injured, and Erikson's coming back from an injury. Would rather he played Sunday than potentially pick up a knock tonight.

Let's see how we actually play before we rant about the line-up. After all, surely it can't be any more dull than what we've had to watch recently?!?!

I'm hoping that's a second string - would be extremely worried if we put that side out on Sunday. Anyhoo, COYFS!
Very true.

Southampton would kill us if we ask Dembele to be the only guy to stand against their midfield.
But then if we batter West Ham tonight, won't they think they've cracked it?

Like he's been given a chance to be.

He had chances to show his ability in a handfull of games. The only game where he was above average was against Sheriff in the Europa League. He will get his chances though. People are acting like he deserves to be a starter because he was expensive.

Was my initial thought but I'm going to wait until the next prem game before spouting off. Maybe Sherwood rates the likes of Erikson, Lamela and Holtby so much he doesn't want to waste them in the league cup when we very desperately need a good run in the prem

Hope so, I just thought playing Lamela in this competition against a premiership team would have been an ideal test for Lamela to see how he faired and get experience.

maybe can do a job against wet spam, but if he ever picks It against a half decent team we'd be screwed.
