I'm astonished that even now, people continually miss the amounts involved. Pool were offered, what? £40-50m? for Suarez. We would have resisted that for Bale. I guarantee you, had Pool been offered £86m, he would have gone.

Did not an ITK say that the major reason Liverpool held strong was due to not finding an adequate replacement?

Yeah, and when he fucks up - or the team fucks up - he looks pissed off about it. Dawson just claps his hands a few times, puffs his chest out and releases a statement to the official site/ Facebook every time we're humiliated.

I think it's unfair of people to say he doesn't care, or try, just because he's got an ice cold demeanour.

Ice cold demeanour? is that another name for having a face like a smacked arse or a bulldog chewing a wasp? because he's turned out like that on quite a few occasions this season before anyone has fvcked up and his ice cold demeanour hasn't stopped him being just as guilty as others this season. Whether he gets pissed off with himself about it or not isn't really the issue there are games when he doesn't look like he can give a fvck and plays like he couldn't. No one expects perfection every game, all players will fvck up once in a while, even the immaculate Ledley had the occasional poor game but he always stayed focussed and always treated the opposition with respect, sadly with Verts much as I think he can be a fine player I think it's a failing in his game that he needs to address, it's not coaching it's attitude and focus and that is something only he can improve

I think you lot need to stop reading into the guy's body language so much, the amount of you obsessing over it is weird.

He's cool, he doesn't goofily smile all the time - because he's not a fucking gefilte-fish-brained retard.

If we do sell him, I look forward to you all raving about whatever downgrade we bring in to replace him who wears his heart on his sleeve and 'bleeds for the club' (by occasionally jumping in front of a football).

I'm leaving it there, off topic enough and I can't be bothered. BAI

if a gang of yobs started on you with the idea of giving you a good beating who would you like alongside you verts or dawson no contest to my eyes
the same principle applies in a football match
dawson is not so talented but more than makes up with grit and determination

I'd rather have Grant Holt alongside me than Messi in a fight, not sure that's a watertight argument you've got there

I'd like Robbie Savage next to me, so that I could say 'Look, it's Robbie Savage, beat him up instead'.

Vertonghen would fuck Dawson up in a fight. Dawson isn't even ripped, you could grate cheese on Vert's bicep.

Yes but Liverpool and Everton have to contend with European football next season, at least we have a squad already built and now somewhat experienced in EL

I think that's a part of it, but also that Madrid were not willing to go any further above it considering how much they shelled out for Bale. Basically, I think that bid was testing the waters to see if it might work (worst Liverpool could do was say no), and nothing more considering they had promised to their fans they'd deliver Bale (was the keystone of Perez' platform for reelection).

So do you think they will spend big on Suarez this year? Would the pressure of not winning the CL force Perez's hand somewhat, as he doesn't have to promise big this year? I know only Rodgers could answer this, but who would be an ideal replacement (not that you could find an ideal one) and would that kick off a transfer merry go round like the Torres deal did previously.

I'm not directly asking an ITK for the information, but I would presume that there would be contingencies already in place and any action could effect spurs down the line. Specially if Ade finds himself in France. It could be a case of other clubs ITK's reinforcing statements made by our ITK's. Would be an ideal scenario for "the journalist" in my opinion.

Paco Ayestaran was on Sky Sports News earlier and he said that he spoke to Ancelotti in Dubai when he was PSG manager and Carlo said to him that his mind was in France but his heart was in England and for the Premier League.

Well it can take time or it can be agreed very quickly if there is a desire both sides as we have seen at other clubs. Either wat we have had a pretty long time to do that and after supposedly twiddling our thumbs on LVG and then him having his head turned I tend to feel if we were 100 pc convinced we would have tied things up. We would have had to have agreed some kind of provisional comp amount with Soton for them to let him talk to us. Likewise if we were serious about Poch and he wanted his back room staff that would have come out in the negotiations and again salaries and comp would have been at least notionally agreed. I doubt we would want to hold up him signing because one of his backroom boys didn't like his package or if Poch was that keen he would insist on everyone of his backroom team finalising a deal before signing his own

Wasn't there also ITK a couple managers ago saying how Ancelotti and Danny boy were close and how Ancelotti was the one that Danny wanted more than anyone?
