Its all over news websites now. The comments from around the web (not so much here) have totally bummed me out. Seems most fans are totally against his appointment.

"He's the wrong man" / "i give him till xmas" etc etc

Seems a lot have given up before Pochettino has even taken one training session.

I wouldn't listen to lots of fans is I were you. They are probably the same ones who wanted to keep sherwood and also probably wouldn't be happy if we'd of got de boer either.

Dont want to spend the WC with us mangerless and worried about the season rapidly approching so I will approve of an imminent appointment.

The thing is does it matter the whole process has been such a mess(sherwood saying he has a list), I think a low profile is best
I'd agree that in an ideal world a low profile would be best but we don't live in an ideal world and I don't think Spurs can maintain a low profile anymore, we're at a stage where everything we do is going to be analysed in minuet detail just because we're firmly entrenched in the top six of the Premier League.

As this analysis is becoming unavoidable we need proper PR types to manage it, having a top notch PR firm is becoming as important as a big four auditor or a silver circle law firm.

Long term lurker, who has decided to quit the creepy, weirdo stuff and finally post so I am expecting no mercy.

I'm sorry to move the discussion back somewhat, but having read the thread I can saw that the whole Southampton being the worst team for dropping points from a winning position and at chasing games has been discussed. This peaked my interest as to where they stood in terms of teams who conceded the most late goals this season (You would presume pretty near the top). I've spent quite a while on google trying to find this stat but have failed miserably.

Does anyone actually know, or alternatively could point me in direction of stats site that might actually record such things, as I think it would make an interesting comparison between them and us at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season under AVB, when we too attempted to play a high intensity pressing game for 90 minutes and often conceded late on.

As has been said, results and the numbers that I have been able to find so far seem to suggest a flaw in Poch's (Bielsa's) system, along with a certain fragility in the mentality of the team and an inability of the manager to address it (conceding a high number of late goals would further confirm this). Despite our stronger, deeper squad, I find this concerning, especially as we have both a higher number and frequency of games to contend with (it is a known weakness of Bielsa's system is that it requires either an infeasibly large squad, or low game frequency in order to produce consistent/sustained success).

Thank you for reading my inane nonsense, and any help would be much appreciated.
This a really good point, Poch does do better at the keeping the high intensity by playing youth more but the problem with this way of football is over time the intensity fades like with Atletico, Barca and etc.

I don't think that was ever going to happen though, it seemed clear it was going to be one of two.

I am a bit concerned with the stats about points gained/lost from winning/losing positions which may indicate a one-track approach, over a season though I don't think it would be a problem with this ethos. Here there would be a large first team squad, plus youngsters, that he hasn't had at Southampton and previously at Espanyol to be able to freshen things up when needed.

Just thinking about it. If Poch does come, then I think I'm getting to know how Levy has thought through this process. Poch will be the first manager since Harry in 10 years that he has given the job to that is managing in the league already. Harry did a great job in our football and league positions. Maybe that was Levy is hoping for by employing someone who he thinks already knows the league ?
