It is a german source claiming they were already talks between Lewis and Hamburg. Either loan or permanent. It's in a case if Rafa is leaving them.

Would be a bit gutted if Lewis leaves now. That is the season to prove things for him. He may not be first choice but he should be Lamelas and Eriksens first replacement. They can't play every game. I guess our new style suits Lewis. Hopefully we don't have to sell him because we can't get rid of ours.

Wouldn't bother me one bit, not good enough... Have only seen glimpses against the poorer sides and when your getting dragged at Fulham for not producing your not good enough for spurs.... Love his desire but needs a bit more

I'd swap Rafa for Holtby to be honest....

But that's just me and Poch certainly won't think that...

Not after the Hamburg coaches comments a couple of weeks ago were he said VDV is nowhere near the player he was a couple of years ago.

I personally don't want him sold. I view him as a better fit for this system than the likes of Townsend and probably Lennon, too. I like the idea of having him as a super sub of sorts. One that can harass opponents and also pop up with a quality end product that can lead to a goal.

He may be too valuable to languish on the bench. He's easily worth 10 or 12 million pounds, loss. and we have enough midfielders for stand-ins. Also if we are expecting Poch to promote some youngsters, selling Holtby is no great

Holtby offers a lot to the team as a sub that can fill in at CM and in the AM slots. He is capable of scoring and I doubt he is on huge wages. I would personally be well shot of Lennon before him.

I like him but, for me, we have: Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Kane, Townsend, Lennon and Holtby for 3 positions. That is at least 1 too many and that is before we consider that we are also in the market for someone like J-Rod and we have some promising youngsters coming through.

I like Holtby, brings a lot of energy and, every now and again, will play the most incredible through balls but I feel his chargng around compensatea from a lack of genuine ability for me.

One of Lenny, Townsend and Holtby needs to leave IMO and I like/ dislike all of them in equal measure...

Would wish him well but can't see him ever being a regular for us

Rabiot in and Holtby out would be a massive upgrade for the way I imagine Poch wants to play. I like Holtby in terms of his effort but he is at best a cover player imo Rabiot by comparison a very serious challenger for a starting place

Some people do not have the slightest clue on Holtby. Massive massive mistake if we let him go.

Genuine question, can you explain what you see in holtby?
With the exception of his debut off the bench at Norwich & against weaker opposition in EL I can not see what the fuss is about, he tries hard (in a running around a lot kind of way) but I'm not even sure what his best position is?

You're expecting too much from him. It's pointless selling a hard working footballer who can fulfill two roles for us. As I said he's a useful squad player. He won't set the world alight but he does a job everytime he plays.

Worth remembering his wages are very high for a squad player.

I'm not desperate for him to leave or anything by the way & you see him as a squad player which is fair enough. I just know there are a lot of fans that really do like him & I'm just keen to know what it is they see in him that I haven't.

I like Holtby. I was delighted when we signed him and would be sad to see him go because we haven't seen anywhere near what he is capable of. I think if anything he has been guilty of trying too hard in his appearances. If he relaxed a little and allowed himself to be more composed then it would benefit him and us greatly.

If I was Poch I would order him to have a couple of wanks immediately before kick off - that might stop him running around like a dog with two dicks.
